Eternal nothingness is fine if you happen to be dressed for it. -- Woody Allen

About Me

I started with fashion photography three and a half years ago — stepping out into the blue — without even knowing how to properly operate a camera. Coming from advertising, I have been in contact with photography and photographers for years, and since I am an art director by training, I naturally developed an early interest in photography. Had to.
After twelve, thirteen years in advertising though, I somehow felt stuck... nothing new to explore... Because of the daily routine, heading my own agency and earning fairly good money didn't seem like a viable alternative for the rest of my life — making money just isn't what we are primarily here for, right? To make matters worse, mediocre clients just bored me to death...
This is where an article about Terry Richardson and his employing of cheapo point-and-shoot cameras in "THE FACE" came in — by pure coincidence. It immediately sparked my interest. I bought one of those tiny little gems (a Contax T2, for you shutterbugs out there), and instantly started shooting away...
After only a few months I knew what I had to do... I cashed in, bid farewell to my former life, and started all over again — without any knowledge about this art, about this business...
But this I can say: FASHION PHOTOGRAPHY SAVED MY ARSE!!!

A note to the search engine fellas: I'm sometimes — but wrongly — referred to as "Jacques Bagios", with a "c" in my first name. My Interests

Right now, nothing really matters.
But then (in no particular order):
Norway, petite poussins & amuse-gueules, Buffy, Citroen Deesse (black, of course), Kate & Milla & Gwyneth & Keira, Architecture, The Kevin Bacon game, Men's shirts in pink, Movies (as you American people say), Scotland, Books, Drinking apple juice while sporting Juicy trousers, Furniture design, Text messages, IMDB, SMDB, Photography, London, Screenwriting, Fashion, "PatRec" and spontaneously abbreviating things, Art, Stellan & Peter, Fairy tales & children's books, The English countryside, "Schoko Bons", Overknees, The smell of raspberries, "Shmalamalan", British rom-coms, Magazines, Sobranie's, MNG, Humming "The Girl From Ipanema" while hovering down the street, Being "mon coeur", Not forgetting anything... and a whole universe inside my head.

I believe in myself.

I believe in good music, and what it does to me.

If I’d be a day of the year, I wouldn’t want to be January 1. I would be very short-lived. I believe in a long, creative life.

For this reason, I believe in B-sides. B-sides survive longer.

I believe in love. Although it’s hard to believe sometimes.

I believe in not getting up before 10AM.

I believe in some form of deity. Good. I also believe in obscure creatures of the night. I believe that demons exist. There’s certainly one in my computer.

I believe in angels. I once "met" one.

I believe in the now. I also believe in the past -- I remember it. I can’t be sure about the future though.

Because I never recall my dreams, I believe in daydreaming.

I believe in Andy Warhol.

I believe in album cover art.

I believe in beauty.

I believe in Photoshop.

I believe it’s okay to cry sometimes.

I believe in the power of words.

I believe in German words that just can’t be translated into English. And vice versa.

I believe in talking. I love to talk! (You never guessed that, right?)

So I believe in the telephone as well. (Andy would have liked that.)

I don’t believe in my Palm anymore.

I believe in lists like this.

It’s also pretty obvious that I believe in the power images can have. I shouldn’t stress that too much.

I believe in jackbauering through a shoot, and then sleep for a whole day.

I believe in all tomorrow’s parties.

I believe in white trousers and Chelsea boots.

I believe in Nescafé instant coffee. Call me a chav.

I believe I should start smoking.

I'd like to meet:

Dunno... Everyone interested in fashion photography, I guess... Stylists, fashion designers, hair & make-up artists, models, other photographers... People interested in photography... But also: graphic designers, artists, film-makers, creative minds of every provenance...

[From now on, friend requests from people who want to sell me something will be denied. Commercial comments and advertising in my comment area will be deleted immediately. Not sorry, folks... Also, I will not approve friend requests from people who have set their profiles to private -- unless you happen to be a supermodel gone incognito. How can you expect to befriend me (even if it's "MySpace friendship") if you don't tell me who you are? Finally, I only add friends in real life to the “Top Friends” category, also people I know personally and people who correspond with me on a regular basis.]
