_____T H E W H O_____ The Who were formed in 1964.. They are one of the greatest rockgroups ever. They influenced an enormous amount of bands. In the sixties and seventies they were also known as the loudest rockband and had a reputation as 'the wildest band on stage'. Roger Daltrey (leading vocals, sometimes tambourines or harmonica / used to play the guitar really well but chose to let go of it, so that he could fully focus on the singing.. he always was an amazing singer), Pete Townshend (guitars, backing vocals, songwriting), John Entwistle (bass, sometimes backing vocals, songwriting) § Keith Moon (drums) were the original members. The legendary Moon died in his sleep due to a massive overdose of pills (he had devellopped a severe alcoholic addiction because of his very excessive lifestyle during the wild years with The Who), at home back in '78. John Entwistle was found dead on his bed in his hotelroom in some hotel in California, not far from a venue, in 2002. He deceased because of a fatal heart attack. Normally that night they were going to play at the venue nearby, but those plans totally changed of course.. /// Nowadays, their second guitarist is Simon Townshend (the younger brother of Pete), the bassist is Pino Palladino and the drummer Zak Starkey (the sun of Richard Starkey / Ringo Starr). I saw The Who at The Werchter Festival on June the 30th 2006... I heard from a man (who's 65) that he once read in a newspaper that during some performance of The Who in a town somewhere in England, the wild music was so enormously amplified people who lived several miles away, could still roughly hear it. Some even said their music sounded like distant bombardments, in other words they must have heard lowtoned rough sounds rolling over the countryside. That night they certainly lived up to their reputation...

__The Blind Faith__ The Blind Faith were the first supergroup which consisted of Steve Winwood (leading vocals, keyboards, sometimes guitar), Eric Clapton (guitar, backing vocals), Rick Grech (bass) § Ginger Baker (drums). The term 'supergroup' meant 'rockgroup which consists of very famous and skilled musicians who earned a certain status because of their achievements in their former band(s)'. In other words a supergroup was a group consisting of highly talented musicians. So they all played in former bands.. Steve Winwood in The Spencer Davis Group and Traffic, Eric Clapton in The Cream and before that in The Yardbirds, Rich Grech in The Family and last but certainly not least Ginger Baker in Cream and The Graham Bond Organisation ! However, 'the supergroup' only existed for a year and a half, they began after the breakup of Cream in the middle of 1968. In 1969 they released the album 'Blind Faith', by the end of that year they broke up...

_____T H E J I M I H E N D R I X E X P E R I E N C E_____ A short tale about Jimi Hendrix and the early bands he played in (which were bluesbands) à nd about how he finally formed the main band in his life; the three-headed rough rockband 'The Jimi Hendrix Experience' with himself as the singer/guitarist of course, Noel Redding on bass § Mitch Mitchell on drums (Jimi was from Seattle, Washington, US and the other two members from around London, England).. The band was formed in 1966 after he flew over to London. From then on Hendrix could unleash his unbelieveable skills and was on top of all that surrounded by his two 'wingmen' who were two great musicians...

___LED ZEPPELIN___ Led Zeppelin were formed back in 1968.. the members were: Robert Plant (vocals, tambourines), Jimmy Page (guitars), John Paul Jones (bass, keyboards) § John Bonham (drums). They were one of the best and most influentual rockgroups ever. Page had already been the bassist and later on the second lead guitarist of The Yardbirds (the lead guitarist was Jeff Beck). Jimmy Page had also been wanting to form a 'supergroup' after Beck had left The Yardbirds in October 1966 and the group was tired from the constant touring and recording. He wanted The Who's outstanding bassist John Entwistle to join the future supergroup, he also wanted The Who's majorly gifted drummer Keith Moon to join.. along with a number of other great musicians like Jeff Beck, Steve Winwood, Donovan and Steve Marriott. Steve Winwood, Donovan and Marriott were going to be the singers while himself and Beck were going to be the guitarists of course, supported by the splendid duo Entwistle-Moon. The group never formed.. Still.. Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck and Keith Moon recorded a song together at the end of 1966, ""Beck's bolero.."", which was going to be featured on Beck's 1968 album 'Truth'. Also bassist-keyboardist John Paul Jones took part of that recording session, he told Page that he would be interested in working together with him on future projects. The Yardbirds played their last gig in July 1968... Some time later the precious child named 'Led Zeppelin' was born.. born to be wild !! //

there are quite alot of heroes; but to me, from the moment on that some person actually does mean something to many others - because of good reasons that is of course - he/she is a heroe
