About Me

.

During a time when Bay Area rap music is virtually being ignored, Prophet is hope for a scene that was once burgeoning with talent. In the past year, the Bay has been making a comeback and is once again being seen as a rap hot spot. Along with other promising rap acts, Prophet looks to bring back the excitement that once surrounded the Bay Area, as well as restore West Coast Hip-Hop.

Prophet’s first project was a self-released album titled Block-Venom. The album chronicles his life as a youth, growing up in the heart of San Francisco. Moving close to 2,000 units on his own through consignment, digital distribution and trunk sales, the album was well received…

“A few months ago, I received an email by some guy who introduced himself asThe Prophet. As an underground rapper from San Francisco, he was trying toget heard. Now I wasn't expecting much from The Prophet, as I had no idea who he was and what his music sounded like, but I decided to give it a shot. So a couple weeks later I receive the CD and put it in my player. A few moments later I knew that there was still hope for Westcoast hiphop.” –Nima, Editor of www.dubcnn.com

It was a difficult task for Prophet to dodge the stigma of how the “Bay” is supposed to sound. With the help of new artists like The Frontline, The Team, and Zion-I, change was inevitable. With the emergence of the New Bay, rules that have kept Bay Area MC’s like Prophet pigeonholed are being cast to the side: “The revolution has begun. The writing on the wall was all filled up and there was no more room. We have built our own wall now with plenty of space to make our own marks,” states Prophet.

With witty word play, an addictive vocal tone and the ability to capture the listener, Prophet is sure to take his place among the forerunners of this explosive renaissance. With his first single produced by standout Bay Area producer Deep H2OZ (Mac Mall, Mac Dre, Turf Talk, The Team) and appearing on numerous mixtapes from the Bay to New York, Prophet’s following grows with every breath.
