I love music that makes me feel like writing, making love, falling in love, crying, smiling, dancing, anything that can make me feel any of these sentiments, or can lure me to act upon these sentiments, I am down with. MUSIC MAKES ONE STRONGER AND LIFE MORE TOLERABLE. BUT to name a few favorites for the sake of specifics I LOVE BOB MARLEY and I enjoy Jah Cure, Burning Spear, Culture, U-Roy, Mikey Dread, and Third World, to name a very few in Reggae music. Lately i have been listening to alot of old stuff like GRANDMASTER FLASH AND THE FURIOUS FIVE-STEP OFF (REST IN PEACE BLINKY-TRIBUTE TO YOU)and Tribe Called Quest (you can't beat em). I love any music that takes me back to when i was young and oblivious: music like Atalantic Starr, Mtume, G.L.O.B.E. it takes me back to the carefree times at the moments when things seem to be going bad. But to be random, Common, Erykah badu, Coldplay, Portishead, Foo Fighters, Incubus, Alliyah, Above the Law "Black Superman" YEEEAH, Clipse, DMX "What Ya'll Niggas Want" u know how he says it, KRS 1, X-CLAN WITH A KEY SIIISSYYY, Willie Colon, Lucha Reyes (Peruvian Style), so many, many many, many more........
"SPARTANS, TONIGHT WE DINE IN HELL",300 IS THE BEST MOVIE THAT I HAVE SEEN THIS YEAR...... I am an O.G. so I like movies like "Beat Street"," Wild Style","Breakin", The Wanderers, Endless Love, I LOVE VALLEY GIRL it is my all time favorite.Also I like movies with substance that mean something, movies like The Motorcycle Diaries,Braveheart,The Pianist,Thunderheart,Amistad, Crash. Oh also for all them dancers out there the movie "RIZE" is off the hook!!!! i just saw the movie APOCOLYPTO and it was very, very, very, good I advise it for anybody who knows anything about the Mayans it is probably the most authentic depiction of the Mayans that I have ever seen in mainstream cinema so far.
Okay, this my confession I am addicted to America's Next Top Model, only because i like to see the transformation from natural beauty to cosmetic beauty, it's crazy what makeup and an enhanced lens can do to the appearance.... I LOVE FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS also i don't know why but, every Wendsday i have to watch it, it entertains me.....
I am trying to work myself into buying "A LONG WAY GONE" it is about a child soldier in the Sudan. I have read many books, too many to name. I have a wide selection of books, and if it is something that I can learn from than i am almost always interested in reading it, from fiction to non-fiction, anything really.....
My children MARISSA, CECILY, LISSETTE, GUILLERMO, they have perservered and they always persevere, they are the most resilient people that i have ever known in my life and i am proud of all of them.My mother, she is incredibly strong, when sometimes life deals her hard times, she triumphs with pereserverance and faith. I strive to be like her. Ras Dinka R.I.P (my stepfather) for he picked my mother up when she was down, when nobody else could. My father who is incredibly intellectual, and intelligent. He see reality in everything. Yes, i do believe i inherited my strong opinions and independence of speech from him, Love you Calo!!!! HARRIET TUBMAN, CHE "QUE VIVA LA REVOLUCION", AND ANYBODY WHO IS NOT AFRAID TO STAND UP FOR WHAT THEY BELIEVE IN, INCLUDING THE MARTYRS WHO CAME AND DIED BEFORE US BECAUSE THEY WERE TRYING TO MAKE THIS HEAVY AND HARD WORLD A BETTER PLACE.......
