I was born Laura Augusta Gainor on October 6, 1906 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (yes Myspace, I really am 100 years old-don't delete my profile). I graduated from high school in San Francisco and went to L.A. because I wanted to act (legend has it that my sister wanted to be an actress, but they liked me instead!). For two years I put up with bit parts until one day I got my chance to be a lead actress in The Johnstown Flood.I was the winner of the first Academy Award for Best Actress for my performances in: Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans, Seventh Heaven, and Street Angel. I was the only actress who was awarded for more than one film. After me, they changed the rules.My husbands: I married Jesse Lydell Peck on September 11, 1929 and we divorced April 7, 1933 (please respect our privacy and don't ask me for details.Then there was Adrian. We married August 14, 1939 and had a son: Robin Adrian in 1940. We stayed married till death do us part when he died September 13, 1959. My final marriage was to Paul Gregory on December 24, 1964. I thought it would be fun to get married on Christmas Eve! Then till death do us part when...I died September 14, 1984 after complications from a car accident I had in '82. Boo hoo!
