Years ago when spandex was considered cool and guys were wearing more make-up than their girlfriends, most of the members of BIG DADDY DRIVE were friends and playing music together. Many years later, the same friends, a little older, a little wiser, have come together to make new music. Guitarist Keith Ross, drummer Mark Schwarze, and bassist John Gales have survived the excessiveness of the eighties and the depressiveness of the nineties to make the straightforward, emotion driven rock and roll that they always have. With the roots-rock and alt-country flavored voice of singer Jami Moore and solid guitar work of newest member Josh Bryant added to the mix, BIG DADDY DRIVE is creating a new sound for their generation.BIG DADDY DRIVE began as an idea in the mind of bassist John Gales after hearing singer Jami Moore, who was paying dues out in the smoky bars across eastern North Carolina. John envisioned a three-piece acoustic outfit and immediately convinced guitarist Keith Ross to join. The three set about putting together acoustic versions of classic rock and country hits with the intention of playing smaller, more intimate shows. After many months in rehearsal, the three knew that something was missing and put in a call to drummer Mark Schwarze. As a full four-piece band, the dynamics of the music changed, as did the original vision for the band. The four proceeded to charge through high-energy versions of classic and modern hits, while maintaining more restrained and mellow periods during their shows across venues all over eastern North Carolina. The band became known for their outrageous live shows that often included controlled chaos and crowd pleasers such as the “Booty Shakin’ Contestâ€. Along the way BIG DADDY DRIVE wanted to beef up their sound and recruited hard-driving guitarist Josh Bryant as the fifth member of the band. It’s been a long, strange trip from acoustic three-piece to rocking quintet, but it’s been a lot of fun.The band is currently playing live shows all over North Carolina and has begun writing and recording their first CD of all original music which is slated for release in March of 2010. The band has a thriving website at www.myspace.com/bigdaddydrive that keeps fans up to speed about show dates and posts all the latest photos from current shows.......FB.init("d2b41699f4a4c02cd54844bfc7999acb");....
