Madonna, Ani Difranco, DAve Mathews, the roots, music that makes me think, music that makes me laugh, music that makes me cry, music that reminds me of good times.
I like movies of different kinds to fit my different states of mind. My new favorite movie is probably Garden State, there's a positive movie with a message that will leave you feeling really great inside. Also love Rocky Horror, Sound of Music, Eternal Sunshine, Amelie, 21 grams
More than anything i like comedies, i used to watch friends, Seinfeld, Sex and the City is probably my favorite, best time to watch is with the girls, makes for good bonding time. Also like the HBO shows, like the one mentioned above, and Six Feet Under. And when no one is looking and no one's around i like Dawson's Creek! Shhhhhhhh...
I know i'm probably falling into a rut like everyone else where they're obsessed with Da Vinci Code, and though it's probably not 100% accurate i still loved it, it is a great story, that atleast makes you think and question certain things one is afraid to question sometimes. My favorite childhood auther was Roald Dahl, he is probably amongs one of the great story tellers. Shakespeare is one of the people i most admire as a writer THE MAN WROTE EVERYTHING IN IAMBIC PANTAMETER!!!! His grasp of the English language was incredible. Poe is also one of the great story tellers though i'm convinced he must have commited a murder at one point in his life b/c he is way to creative. Right now i'm into the religious texts namely Hindu texts, the vedas, baghava gita, upanishads, and the RAmayana which i recently finished. Before that i read Life of Pi which is great, its great for anyone who has ever questioned god in their lifetime, really puts things into perspective. Now i'm reading the analects by confucious, it's interesting. Interesting philosophy, mainly i like things that will make me think.
Those who have in some way altered the course of history. I always say it's difficult enough to make a mark on one individual, but to make your mark on the world is something to be admired. My main heros are Madonna, Ghandi, Jesus, Budha, Mohamed, Pope John Paul II is a pretty cool guy who has done many great things in his life. The Dalai Lama, who in just hearing him speak can bring anyone a sense of inner peace.
