AWC is a private organization under the jurisdiction of the 6th Area Support Group. As such, the club is not an instrumentality of the United States (US). It must be self-sustaining, and may not receive financial assistance from the US or non-appropriated funds (NAF). The purpose of the club shall be to promote and encourage the sport of wandering and related art and social activities. These activities will be conducted for the morale, welfare and physical well being of the members of the Houston Art Community as a whole and for the betterment of relations between the members of the community and the host culture.
