I grew up on a farm in Iowa, moved to San Francisco as soon as I graduated from college because this is the only place I've ever felt at home. I have a Ph.D. in clinical psychology. The topic of my dissertation was survivors of child sexual abuse who practice S&M...ultimately I found several ways in which S&M was helpful in dealing with the effects of the abuse.
