Myspace Backgrounds Carlos Martin grew up in a very musical enviroment. Being the son of the top flamenco guitarist Juan Martin, there was a strong latin music influence in his life from an early age. He first learnt to play the flamenco guitar at the age of five and still plays today. From a young age Carlos went on tour with his father in the company of flamenco dancers such as Eva La Yerbabuena, Spain's number one flamenco dancer. Music has truly been an integral part of his life from day one. However, growing up in London Carlito was also subject to the influence of electronic and urban music. He was inspired by the rythmic intensity of dance music. Carlos started to DJ in 2003, playing Drum & Bass. In 2006 Carlos joined internet radio station Aspire radio to DJ Drum & Bass for them on a weekly basis. However as the years went by he expanded the styles that he played and moved in House, Electro and Techno. Carlos has played at Lock 17 in Camden Lock, London and The Venue in Canterbury, which has a capacity of 1,500. He also ran his own night in Autumn 2008 called "Brock Out" at Bar vinyl, 12 Inverness st, Camden. Continuing the theme of performance Carlos has also performed the flamenco guitar in such prestigous venues as the Great Hall at the Dartington college of music. His influences also stretch across genres such as flamenco, jazz, soul, funk, hip hop, electronica and experimental artists. Carlos is currently producing a promising sounding album with his father Juan Martin of Electronica fused with Flamenco. This album will include a range of different styles from Tech-House sounding numbers to more experimental downtempo and freeform tracks.
