M yrkvar is a Folk Metal band with Black Metal influences. The band is currently recording their first album, and has already supported bands like Ancient Rites, MÃ¥negarm, Korpiklaani and Trail of Tears.
For Myrkvar, it all began early 2003. Hjorulf (guitar and vocals), Gravtakk (drums) and Phyntar (cello), recorded the "On Broken Wings" demo which was released in 2004. Before this release the line-up changed dramaticly. Eburaz was put on drums, Uruz took second guitars and Hrabnilaz added synth parts.
With that line-up change, also the style of music changed. The Folk/Viking-infuences became dominant, though Black Metal was kept as a serious part of the music. In 2006, Fusilan (violin) and Herubern (bass) also joined the band.
Two months later, the promo-song ’I Viking’ was recorded.
Late 2006 the band started with the recordings of their first full-length album. Shortly after the recordings Eburaz left Myrkvar to focus more on his other band. Shortly after Arbudon was found to take over the drums.
Before the release of the album Hjorulf had to give up Myrkvar. He needed time for other things in his life. The band saw no need for a new guitar player and Hrabnilaz, Herubern and Uruz took over the vocals.
