I play keyboards for blues great James Armstrong. When we're not on the road, I play with fellow keyboard guy Mike Skory in Boogie Woogie Kings, and also play New Orleans-style stuff with guitarist Junior Valentine.
grandpa herman started it all when he wrote the yankee waltz in 1911, same year my dad was born...I came along quite a bit later...parents made me wait until i was 5 to start piano lessons. boy, was i honked at them...took classical piano lessons from nuns and mrs. thompson at 50 cents a pop...learned polkas and waltzes from my dad (a professional musician) and took accordion lessons from him....organ and drums and guitar from other patient instructors...then along came little richard fats domino huey smith allen toussaint memphis new orleans music that shook my cage and made me wanna be a real rock and roller...started for serious in high school and kept right on going...keep your day job son...played with some great cats made it through the 60's and the 70's relatively unscathed...the late great smiley lewis, bryan lee when he was just a kid and so was i... union street boogie band, eastown house band, fast eddie & the smooth talkers in the 80's, nappy brown, junior valentine and zillions of other bands and faces and places...opened for everyone, jammed with everyone else, close personal friends with everyone else...tried to retire in 2000 and got fingers slapped by bill payne...little featster got me back on track, thank you mr. bill...what'd we do to deserve so much fun, anyway?
