Im currently a graphic designer working for a small design and print firm in Belfast.
Im kind of a laid back sort o' guy on account of many years of smokin the cheeba. My ideal night would be chillin with my homies with sum good movies, good weed and sum beers. PURFEK!
Above is a theatrical trailer for "Three...Extremes".
Three films from three masters of asian cinema. The first is a shortened version of Fruit Chan's award winning "Dumplings". The second short film "Cut" is offered up by Park Chan-wook (Oldboy) which tells a tale of of a young acting student who goes to increasingly brutal lengths to prove that his mentor has a nasty streak. Featuring a short but none the less brilliant performance from Lee Byung-Hun (A Bittersweet Life). Finally Miike Takashi directs "Box". A ritualistic story of a women haunted by the death of her twin sister with all the sinister and twisted hallmarks of its director.
It's great to see a colaboration from some of my personal favourite directors. Three... extremes goes straight into the catagory of one of the most twisted film i'll probably see this year.
( 8 / 10 )Above is the theatrical trailer for "Nightwatch".
For as long as humanity has existed, there have been "Others" among us; Witches, Vampires and Shape–Shifters who are soldiers in the eternal war between Light and Dark. Over 1000–years ago a truce was struck between the side, and they agreed that no one could be forced to chose sides. To uphold this truce, each side established underground forces. Ancient prophecy foretells that one day the Great One will arrive who can end the threat of an apocalyptic battle between Light and Dark Others.
I found this a very fresh and original take on the vampire movie genre driven by a lot of thought and imagination. However, with the stunning effects and fast paced action scenes, i felt that the story had something missing and in some parts didn't seem to fit the plot.
If you're into vampire movies I think you will find this enjoyable. However don't expect to be too engrossed by the story. ( 6 / 10 )Adapted from renowned writer Liang Yu-Shen’s timeless classic, SEVEN SWORDS is an action-packed wuxia epic tapestry; intertwining love, betrayal, heroism, and the fascinating art of swordsplay. Starring Hong Kong megastar Leon Lai, versatile actress Charlie Young, and international action star Donnie Yen, SEVEN SWORDS is directed by internationally acclaimed visionary director Tsui Hark, from a script written by Tsui Hark.
SEVEN SWORDS marks a new beginning in the culture of swordplay. Seven extraordinary swords will play a decisive role in the story. While recent films of this genre heavily depended on wires, visual effects and CGI, SEVEN SWORDS is going back to the basics, focusing on realism and authentic martial arts fighting.
A very, very enjoyable and unique epic story. (8 / 10 )Above is a teaser trailer for the upcoming "Trailer Park Boys: Baked on a True Story".
Based on the cult Canadian TV hit, created by Mike Clattenburg. The movie will be shot on a hand-held, Super 16mm film camera to retain its trademark cheap and cheerful look. Produced by Ivan Reitman (Ghostbusters, Twins).
Im really looking forward to this one. The Tv show which has been running for just over four years now is the most genius comedy you'll ever see. Starring John Paul Tremblay (Julian), Robb Wells (Ricky) and Mike Smith (Bubbles).
If you're not fimiliar with the Trailer Park Boys just take it from me that you're missing out. Check it out soon.Above is the theatrical trailer for "A Bittersweet Life" by Kim Jee-Woon (A Tale of Two Sisters). Has since become one of the most successful Asian films ever made.
This is the story of Sun-woo, a hotel manager and enforcer who, after refusing to kill his boss's young girlfriend finds himself at war with the very men he once called brothers.
A brilliant combination of high octane set pieces and a mesmerising performance from leading man Lee Byung Hun, make this film truly unforgettable. A must see! ( 10 / 10 )Above is the theatrical trailer for "Sha Po Lang".
For being 53 years old, Sammo Hung sure can move. The martial arts legend is still a marvel to watch in Sha Po Lang, Wilson Yip's glorious police drama/action film that may be Hong Kong cinema's saving grace. Sammo Hung stars as Po, the boss of a crime syndicate who is being hunted down by Detective Chan (Simon Yam) and his team of fellow officers. Early on in the film, Detective Chan suffers from an injury that leads to his early retirement. Detective Ma (Donnie Yen), a fierce but disciplined martial artist, steps in as Chan's replacement. What follows is a brutally nihilistic depiction of the crime world, where the police morality is just as questionable as the criminals.
Featuring some of the most enjoyable fight sequences i've ever seen between legends Sammo Hung and Donnie Yen. This is an absolute must see for all you martial arts nuts.
( 9 / 10 )Here's a scene from "Fighter in the Wind". A breathtaking film based on a true life Korean hero, Choi Bae-dal. During the second world war, Choi goes to Japan and faces a number of prejudices - as a Korean, he is deemed a lower class citizen and is forbidden to learn martial arts. He retreats to the woods for eighteen months and sets about disciplining both mind and body, before returning to take on some of Japan's best fighters in brutal hand to hand combat.
This is a martial arts masterpiece. I thoroughly enjoyed this film and the leadin performance from Yang Dong-geun is superb! ( 9 / 10 )
