" I aint ask for this, it just happened" is the phrase Durelle Clayton, better known as “Nephew”, grew up in a crack-infested nationhood in Louisville, Kentucky. One day while walking home from school, Durelle witnessed a traumatic shooting that changed his life drastically. It was that moment that he realized that he had to get out of the hood. Soon after, Durelle’s god-father “Corey Cracc” released his first album. This inspired Durelle to gain interest in the music industry. To “Nephew” writing was always a gift, and speaking became a passion. Putting the two together was ultimately one of the most important decisions that he ever made. He has been writing since the early age of eight. Some of his influences include: Dr. Dre, Pimp C, Bun B, Lil Boosie, Outkast, and Lil Wayne. Throughout his career he has opened up for numerous artists such as Soulja boy, Nappy Roots, BHI Ft. K-rab Luch Millions, Dougie Fresh, Gorilla Zoe, Juvenile and R. Prophet. He has also performed many local competitions and various shows; including The Cincinnati Jazz Festival. Along with those accomplishments, he has also released two mixtapes while in high school; “Boywonder muzick”, which sold 600 copies and “The Apprentice Mixtape Series” which sold 1,500 copies. “Nephew’s music is for those behind bars to the boardroom.
