About Me

DANCELWERK.
Fernando Ledesma, aka Dancelwerk has been involved in music for many years working under various aliases such as Modular, Omen, Fullmoon, and Fractal 303. Born in Santa Cruz, Tenerife; he is a self-taught musician with a passion for constant investigation, and experimentation of textures, rhythms, and ways of pushing electronic music closer to the dance floor. Dancelwerk has always played a key part in the electronic music scene of the Canary Islands, in Spain, where he founded the independent label Kindersonic. His interests and influences stem back to nu-wave synth and techno pop in the early eighties. Artists like Visage, Yazoo, Depeche Mode, Ultravox, Juan Atkins, Kraftwerk, and the Human League all left a lasting impression on Dancelwerk. In the mid eighties he focused his attention on the new emerging European electronic, and industrial techno scene. Bands like Front 242, Nitzer Ebb, Front Line Assembly and Skinny Puppy were all pushing musical boundaries and opened the doors for others to come. At the end of the eighties he bought his first synthesizer, a Yamaha SY55 and started writing music. The early nineties saw the release of his first demo, and was a turning point in his career, as he began producing house, techno and breakbeat. With the purchase of two Roland Drum machines, a TR-909, R8M rack, as well as an analogue Roland Juno 1 he launched his first E.P in 1995, “Trip to Happiness” under the pseudonym of Fractal 303 with Heya Records, followed by five other releases; XTC-Fullmoon, Spheroid and Hypervelocity(1995-1997) Speed Trance and Tomorrow never Knows, as Omen (1998-1999). Another change in direction occurred in 2002, as Fernando put his other projects aside, and created Dancelwerk. The ethos of Dancelwerk was the philosophy of expressing ideas and concepts with musical freedom. On December 2004, the Dancelwerk project came of age with the launch of his critically acclaimed CD album Hedonist Series.00. The album had elements of IDM, Minimal and Techno House, with influences from the past, present and future of all things electronic. The Spanish press received the album with great enthusiasm and gave it great reviews, which led to Dancelwerk playing at some of the biggest outdoor festivals in Spain, such as Electrosplash and Magma in 2005; where he was placed on the same bill as Tiefschwarz and John Tejada. With a busy schedule of live European dates, releases and remixes, Dancelwerk continues to evolve, and to become a pivotal part in the development of the Spanish music scene.
