THE Open Mic night!
ALTERNATION is a musical experiment. We arrange a fortnightly Open-Mic and Friday night 'Monthly Specials' that cater to an eclectic mix of tastes.
Taking you on a musical journey from rock to punk, from punk to metal, from metal to drum and bass, from DnB to ska, from ska to emo, from emo to indie and so on, ALTERNATION mixes up all the tunes you wouldn't normally get from your Friday night DJs.
Our hot DJs (and I mean hot!) are locally renowned, with resident DJ Jimmy the regular face at JB's on a Thursday.
ALTERNATION trys to offer something different to most 'rock' nights.
A large chill out space began by hosting The Live Lounge, an acoustic open mic showcasing a wide variety of local talent. However, the room evolved into a night of it's own; ALTERNATION LIVE (see below). Now the chill out space hosts alternative DJs and artists from all over the country.
The first ever ALTERNATION LIVE took place on Tuesday 26th September 2006...kick starting a fortnightly phenomenom.
Like Frankenstien, the Alternation Open-Mic came to life with a mind of its own....
Jam sessions where you just turn up and play. Pretty simple really...apart from we've added a slight twist.
The main room will have most of the equipment you/your band will need to put on an acoustic/jam set. (all you need is guitars, leads, cymbals and sticks)
But ALTERNATION LIVE offers something a little different. We have the best sound engineers and record EVERYTHING! From Jokes to Blokes with theramins...the lot get recorded, remastered then offered to YOU - The artist - for nothing more than your continued support.
