Marcel is an honorary alumni graduate of the Fashion Institute of New York,where he was recipient of the Stephen Burrows(avante-garde)design award,and the Carol Horn(sportswear)design award.
He has served as free-lance menswear illustrator for Ebony Male magazine(Johnson Publication,New York),participant in the Nelson Mandela freedom event(Essence Magazine,New York),participant in the prestigious Coty Fashion awards(New York),and participated in the Hurricane Katrina Relief fund-raiser(Los Angeles,CA).
He has designed and befriended such artists as: Whitney Houston(World Tour),rhythm/blues singer Keith Sweat,jazz-saxophonist Kirk Whalum,musical group Atlantic Starr,the late legendary songstress Phyllis Hyman,recording/broadway star Melba Moore,jazz-saxophonist Kenny G,and has done work for Mary J.Blige(music video),and Jennifer Lopez(music video).
He was selected by the mayor's "Special Events" committee to present a fashion show gala for the Miss Universe pageant;a featured designer for the Susan G.Komen breast-cancer fundraising event,and is an active participant in many civic,social events. He also served as speaker for career day programs in promoting education/awareness in inner-city schools.
