I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I sometimes do makeup in the Portland area. Call me, let's chat and don't forget to tell your friends about me. Holding a brush in my hands and creating is something that I thrive on and I'd love to share that experience with you.
I reallyreally love music; nothing makes me feel more alive. Bending over my piano and pounding out rhythm and melody is one of life's greatest pleasures. Lately I haven't had much time for discovering new tunes or bands so feel free to make any worthwhile suggestions.
Some might say I'm a country girl living in the city but I think I was always a city girl living in the country.
I like to imagine myself having some photographic skills but I'm not sure yet, I'll keep practicing. At any rate, I like to take pictures and I like looking at them too.
To the surprise of many, I never really went to college. I tried but I just couldn't get into it and the desire still is not there. Getting good grades doesn't mean I enjoy it. I like myself better working hands on and gaining experience. I go to school to get training in areas of interest and to better myself at my job but that's about it.
I love traveling but I like going off the beaten path, seeing the grit and grime in life, experiencing reality. I have a heart for missions and loving humanity, cheesy as that may sound. My favorite places thus far are Brazil and Germany. I plan on Thailand usurping those two in the sometime near future (I hope).
I've been called a rock snob and don't mind admitting to my snobbish tendencies but this is not to be confused with the much snobbier indie rock snob.
My dog is cuter than your dog. She also has superdog abilities such as kissing and blowing snot bubbles simultaneously.
I deleted Tom and am proud of it.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

People who are real, genuine, and have a sense of humor.
Other artsy people.
People I've lost contact with.
People who remember me.

My Blog

It will come to you, this love of the land

The following is an excerpt from chapter 5 of John Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath.  I've been reading it very slowly over the past few months, some days more than others.  It is beautifully crafted, ...

Aaaaah! My eyelashes!

Tonight I was being the sweet, domestic housewife that sometimes lurks inside me when I discovered a serious fire hazard.  I was opening up my hot oven and the blast of heat hit my face and my ey...

I hate fragrances

While at work tonight I had to cover the fragrance counter while my co-worker took a break.  Not only did everyone and their dog want a sample during this brief 10-minute window of time but of co...

If I had a dollar I would have given it

If you live in Portland you know that there are more and more panhandlers than ever.  I see the regulars nearly every day in their usual spots but now it seems like every corner and off ramp has ...

Makeup Blog -- Wilhelmina Shoot

A few weeks ago I did a shoot with our agency, Wilhelmina/MTG. On my part it was more for fun, to kick back and hang out a little (and offer some help along the way). The agency has signed several new...
