About Me

Ian Hayes Brett began his film career in the fall of 2000 when he accepted an internship with the Telemedia Group, then based out of EUE/Screen Gems Studios in Wilmington, North Carolina. With the Telemedia Group, Brett began working as a 24 frame playback technician, video assist operator, and cameraman on such feature films as Black Knight, Domestic Disturbance, A Walk to Remember, and Stateside. In addition, Brett was frequently called upon to work on electronic press kits for various films and television shows. In the fall of 2001, Brett began Purple Hayes Productions and set out to produce his first feature film.
Purple Hayes Productions debut effort was At Night With No Curtains, a feature length horror film written and directed by Brett. Shot over three weeks in the summer of 2002, the film became the first movie to be shot entirely in rural North Carolinas Gates County. Purple Hayes Productions began independently distributing the film to various venues up and down the east coast in the spring of 2003. In early 2004, the film became a fan favorite at the Nevermore Horror & Gothic Film Festival, held annually in Durham, NC. Following its success at Nevermore, At Night With No Curtains was licensed for domestic video distribution by Mediapro, Inc. The film continues to build a cult following.
After offering the public At Night With No Curtains as his directorial debut, Brett sought to show his versatility by directing a hard-hitting drama entitled From Midnight to Morning, Baby. The film is the first installment of the Southern Redemption Trilogy, three films that follow the lives of two blues musicians in the rural south. Addressing hard-hitting issues such as drug abuse, racism, and religion, From Midnight to Morning, Baby shows that Bretts ability to move an audience parallels his ability to frighten them. The film premiered in June of 2004 and continues to create buzz in the indie film world. The film has already received overwhelmingly positive feedback in North Carolina, New Orleans, and around the country.
PHP is now pushing forward on several projects, promising to showcase some of filmmakings most talented rising stars, both in front of and behind the camera. Purple Hayes Productions is committed bringing its brash style of uncompromising filmmaking to ever-growing audiences and providing the most original and entertaining films this side of Hollywood.
