About Me

Ok you tell me you didn't struggle with this bit... The headline says it all. To be a British Indie Producer planning to break into the mainstream, you really need a good sense of humour. There are a number of other things you need to be, an accountant, a marketer, an entrepreneur...but I think we will leave that one there as this is only the first paragraph and I don't wish to bore you.My main passion is movies and filmmaking. I live and breathe my work. When I am on my day off I normally will get out or watch a movie, which defeats the object of a day off. I am also a typical bloke who loves football and for my sins I support West Ham United a rollercoaster football team (like my career) from East London. I have worked in the entertainment industry since leaving school and it’s taken many years to find my feet as a film producer. Filmmaking is one of the craziest industries to work in with Art and Business forever on the balancing scales. They both need each other, but they often forget that their partner is around and its often the producer who is stuck right in the middle of the two. After ten years as working as a runner on a feature called Tom's Midnight Garden I have now produced my first feature film. Working my way up through the AD ranks I got enough on set experience before produing my first short with the newly formed Scanner-Rhodes Productions in 2000. Superstitious minds was broadcast on Virgin Airlines and then on cable. The next few years came many different short film projects, shot on everything from Digital to 35mm. The stills in the slide show below are from some of my productions to date. In November 2005 alongside new Director Lawrence Pearce we set out to make our first feature film Night Junkies, which was recently released in the US after eight months in the making. Night Junkies was first screened in front of a packed audience at the BAFTA during September 2006. If any would like to see the films trailer, please click on the stream below or please feel free to check out www.nightjunkies.com. In August 2007 we secured the finance along with Face Films for my second feature film City Rats, a multi layered black comedy which reunites the Business and Football Factory stars Danny Dyer & Tamer Hassan. City Rats will receive it's world premiere at Slamdance 2009 in Utah. It will also receive it's UK multi platform release in mid May 2008.(Ok that's enough of the plugging)(can I have just one more please?) oh ok, just one more than www.scanner-rhodes.co.ukWhat's next?....wouldn't we all like to see into the future. Watch this space....or to be politically correct watch my space...

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Cameron Diaz and Jennifer Love Hewitt but hey wouldn't all us hetrosexual males dream of the same. Stephen Spielberg, he should be an inspiration for any filmmaker. Alfred Hitchcok, someone all British filmmakers should be proud of and look up to, but I am in the wrong life for that meeting. Al Pacino, Jack Nicholson, Anthony Hopkins, Hale Berry and Johnny Depp as they are my most respected actors. Hopefully one day they will work for me and wave their 20million dollar price tag.Outside the film industry, Lance Armstrong and anyone else who has got an amazing inspiring story to tell. All photographs by Marc Clayton www.marcclayton.comScanner-Rhodes Showreel 2007
