About Me

What do you get when you cross a young black African with some Soul music, a pinch of HipHop and Jazz. Well..it should leave room for some imagination as that person be Rogers RMJ, CEO of New Era Studio. Tucked away in a small room in the heart of Chudleigh, Lusaka, Zambia amidst a mass of cables, mixers, samplers and software are a group of individuals who are pouring living inspiration in a newly developed song. One of these individuals is Rogers and he is so vibrant with enthusiasm and energy that anybody putting the slightest touch on his T shirt could spark flames! Rogers has grown up with music and it is one of the biggest things in his life. Such beautiful fate not knowing, he grew up with the love of the acoustic guitar after his mother placed it in his tender arms at the age of 7. He hasn't let it go since. Sounds Like: Well I can't say that I don't sound like anybody and it would be wrong to say that I sound like such and such an artist. I basically think that as you are birthed as a musician and you grow up listening to a certain kind of music you become very similar(musically) to that musician. He takes the role as your 'daddy'. Its so amazing how a child will have a smile just like his mother and his gesticulations like his father. Yet he didn't plan to. Mimicry, when growing up is inevitably...... contagious! But important as a starting point. At the point of musical maturity one should redefine his position in his musical life, look at his influences and set himself apart bringing out his 'true, genuine self'. It can take years. When one trully has found him/herself you can surely say....'I sound like me'.....!! ..
