..What can I say about myself? Well, I'm a good ole' God-fearing southern boy, I guess! People know me as a singer. My close friends know me as "Matty"...a fun, dependable and generous guy. I grew up in South Carolina and Virginia playing football, baseball, and running track...and I've been singing since I was 10. I graduated from Midlothian High School near Richmond, VA in 1995 and then from Virginia Tech in 2000 and 2001. Go Hokies, baby! My degree work was in Vocal Jazz Performance and in Financial Planning. I'm now a Financial Advisor by trade, but I still love to sing and dance. Right now, I'm spending all my free time performing in local shows for many different production companies. What else can I tell you about me? I've put out a couple of albums, one of which received substantial airplay on radio stations nationwide. I was proud of that, although I only heard myself on the radio (on an NPR Jazz Hour) just once. Talk about a trippy experience! I've sang and danced in shows for Paramount theme parks, headed big bands, and was in a professional a capella vocal quintet called "Sound Advice" for 5 years. I've done a lot of other interesting things in life - I've traveled almost everywhere you can think of...I've made a lot of very cool friends, performed in a ton of different venues, and had a blast just living life. I'm also an avid golfer and a poker player. My life transitioned to central coast California out of Salt Lake City, UT in 2006 where I had been a "transplant" from Virginia when I moved there in 2002. While I was in Utah, I co-owned a financial services business with my father. Now I live in Grover Beach, CA a few blocks from the beach.
Here I am playing John Utterson in Chameleon Productions version of the Broadway smash-hit musical, Jekyll & Hyde, which played at The Clark Center in Arroyo Grande, CA this past June. Enjoy!
