Matt Feltner is a recent graduate of the School of Music at Western Michigan University. His primary instrument is the saxophone, but he is also an avid percussionist, singer, and pianist.During his time at WMU, Matt excelled as a performer and teacher while attaining his degree in Music Education. In five years, he played in every university ensemble available to a saxophonist. Comfortable in both the classical and jazz traditions, performance highlights included a solo with the University Symphony Orchestra and one year as saxophonist with the prestigious vocal jazz ensemble Gold Company.Matt has appeared as a soloist with the Dexter Community Band, the Kalamazoo College Jazz Band, and has also performed locally for the Kalamazoo Concert Band, the Gagie School of Music, Southwest Michigan First, and at the Union Cabaret & Grille.Matt has studied the saxophone with Trent Kynaston, Sarah Roberts, Dr. Kimberly Hyland, and Doug Horn. He has also studied jazz improvisation with Dr. Scott Cowan. On June 6th, 2009, he will continue his work and travels on Royal Caribbean's Serenade of the Seas playing Tenor, Clarinet, and Flute while cruising in Alaska.
