Profile GeneratorTrue Jungle Souljahs arose from the depths of Canberra in late 2004 with Jessica Whaler (Eska) and Benjamin Murrell (Ben Jammin) at the helm and from that moment it has grown into a jungle force to be reckoned with and one that has become a part of all of us in the Canberra scene. The idea behind TJS was to throw parties where friends could get together, drink, smoke, dance, laugh and listen to fresh sounds and give the jungle heads of Canberra the chance to play out to a crowd.TJS started off in the small club of Red Gecko with a night called Weaponry and from here it worked its way to the forefront of Canberra jungle alongside longtime heavyweights Synapse and Drumsluts to ensure that the people who wanted a night of pure filth had the opportunity to go out and witness what every other major city in Australia had been exposed too for sometime. After some successful local nights at Red Gecko including drinking the bar dry of beer at the infamous Ill Behave-Ya night it was time to step up to the plate and put Canberra on the map with a devastating flood of internationals. With partners in crime Synapse and Drumsluts Canberra was invaded by the jungle elite including: Zinc, Teebee, Black Sun Empire, Pendulum, Ed Rush, Optical, J-Majik, Friction, Noisia, Concord Dawn, Evol Intent and Calyx. This relentless run of powerhouse acts left a trail of dead bodies behind as they rampaged through the capital destroying everything in their path, just the way we like it. It was a juggernaut of beats and bass never before experienced in Canberra and by the response of the masses it was something that Canberra had been lacking. The success of these events placed Canberra is good steed with the rest of Australia and certainly the jungle community abroad as word got round what we all already knew : The Canberra massive are madkunts ready to get amongst it at every opportunity and show their support and love of the jungle sound. The aim of TJS remains the same as when it was first conceived, every person who attends a TJS event is a souljah and we hope that everyone has left with the feeling of being a part of something special as it is you the Canberra massive that make the scene what it is today and with your support and love of jungle, Canberra will no doubt be a haven of the sound well into the future. As the number of souljahs grows by the day and the frontline of gigs continues to swell we are excited about what lay ahead for Canberra as more and more epic nights go down in the files of Canberra history and we hope you are all looking forward to the ride, to the darkside...EzSouljahs
