About Me

In a world of mainstream pop music cluttered with up-tempo dance beats and feel-good lyrics, singer/songwriter Anthony Starble provides an honest persona and a true hybrid of catchy pop tunes and narrative indie pop styles. Emerging from a classical background, Anthony lays out harmonies in a delicate way, creating a preciseness that one would find in the practice of classical composition
He began to emerge as a singer/songwriter at the age of 16 when he began showing an interest in music, joining several vocal groups at his art magnet school, Denver School of the Arts. Inspired during this time by composer/songwriter Jim Brickman, Anthony started to write simple songs about love and heartbreak. Growing up in the late 90’s, he was flooded with hits from rock singers like Duncan Sheik and Natalie Imbruglia as well as modern musical theater pioneers like Jonathan Larson and Jason Robert Brown. Now 20 years old, Anthony has combined aspects from modern rock, musical theater and contemporary classical styles to create a new sound from a hybrid of genres.
Anthony’s success as a singer/songwriter comes with the interplay he creates between piano and voice. Comprised from technical passages and sensitive harmonic structure, Anthony builds a fuller texture on the piano to support his simplistic vocal lines. The piano in Anthony’s songs often have more than enough content to stand on their own as complete pieces, but Anthony’s youthful, simple vocal lines force you out of the pianos intricacy, creating a synonymous relationship between the simple and the complex. Using a narrative-like lyric structure, Anthony uses a lot of internal rhyme and phrase repetition, which complement his voice. Heartfelt words about love/life/loss are dense and truthful, making them easy to internalize and relate to your own relationships and experiences.
When you hear Anthony’s music, you can easily relate it to your own favorite artist. Anthony’s blend of pop, classical and musical theater styles is all together both familiar and unfamiliar at the same time. Everyone can appreciate the level of craftsmanship that Anthony uses to create his songs, making him able to reach people of all different ages and backgrounds. Above all, the honesty that he exhibits both harmonically and lyrically is what captives audiences and continues to build his career as a singer/songwriter.
