It is based on the idea that pain and dis-eases are caused by an imbalance and shortage of life energy, called ki in Japanese, in the body.Reiki practioners balance a patients ki by channeling additional energy from the universe into the patients body. This is accomplished by touch, or by placing the hands just above the recipients body. It then enters the patient through seven different charkas (located at the crown, forehead, throat,, heart, stomach, abdomen and groin). It is theorized that the seven charkas correspond to particular organs and endocrine glands. Channeling ki into these organs or glands stimulates them to flush out toxins that may be causing pain or illness. In addition, ki can stimulate endocrine glands to release hormones that relieve pain and help the immune system combat disease.Reiki energy flows to and treats ailments on the spiritual, mental, emotional and physical levels. It balances the body, relieves blocked energies and supports the bodys natural healing abilities. After a Reiki treatment you may feel energized and more alert or in a restful state, feeling at peace.HypnosisHypnosis is as ancient as civilization. Early cultures used hypnosis for religious and healing purposes. The ability to hypnotize was considered to be supernatural. Not until the 18th Century was any attempt made to turn hypnosis into a science. A serious medical interest in hypnotism developed during both World Wars I and II to treat shell-shocked soldiers. In 1955 the British Medical Association approved hypnosis for the treatment of psychoneurosis and to relieve the pain of childbirth and surgery. In 1958 the Council on Mental Health of the American Medical Association gave hypnotism its approval. There is a relationship between intelligence and the ability to be hypnotized; anyone with average or above-average intelligence can be hypnotized. You cannot be hypnotized against your will. If you resist it will not work: hypnosis requires your consent. You remember everything and you will not reveal intimate secrets while hypnotized. You cannot become “stuck” in hypnosis since you retain the control. If you have ever driven the highway and begun to day-dream and you drive past your exit, you have experienced hypnotism.Hypnosis Facts1. Hypnosis is an enjoyable state of mind, similar to daydreaming, in which you become very receptive to proper suggestions.2. The effects are: wonderful feelings of calmness, tranquility and profound relaxation.3. You will not actually be asleep or unconscious. Therefore, you will always be aware of your surroundings, sounds, etc., but you will not be distracted.4. You will always remain in control and be able to awaken yourself at any time. You also retain the power to reject any unsuitable suggestions.5. You cannot remain in hypnosis. If you are left alone, you will come out of it on your own in just a few minutes.6. Clients experience hypnosis at different levels - light, medium or deep. Any level is sufficient to break most habits. The most important factor is your ability to accept and follow the suggestions.7. Anyone of average intelligence can achieve hypnosis to some degree. If you can concentrate and use your imagination, hypnosis will probably occur immediately. However some people need additional time and practice.8. You will NOT have amnesia... you will remember everything that you need to reach your goal.9. You cannot be hypnotized against your will. If you do not want to experience hypnosis... you won't.10. Many people, who do experience hypnosis, do not feel like they have been hypnotized... it's a common feeling. Do not be concerned about it. Simply follow the suggestions and watch for positive results.11. Your attitude about reaching your goal with hypnosis is very important. Usually, good attitudes produce good results. Expect to be successful.12. Hypnosis is a very pleasant experience. Sit back, relax and enjoy it.Remember, the American Medical Association and the American Psychiatric Association have approved the use of hypnotherapy.Hypnotherapy: Change Your Mind ~ Change Your LifeWhat is Hypnosis?Hypnosis is a natural process of deep relaxation and fixation of attention, whereby positive suggestions are entered into the subconscious mind replacing negative, self-defeating thoughts. Hypnosis is a highly effective tool for change. From birth until death, we continually move in the direction of our most dominant thought. So you can change your thinking to assist you in changing your life. How Does Hypnosis Work? There is a part of the conscious mind called the critical factor. It's like a guard at the gate between the conscious and the subconscious mind. The critical factor has the power to accept or reject suggestions from entering the subconscious mind. It has very good intentions. Its job is to protect us. Because change is viewed as a threat to our nervous system, any suggestion that does not match the existing programming automatically gets rejected. That is how it accomplishes its goal of protecting us.The only way a real change can take place is to get the new programming into your subconscious mind. To do this, we must relax your conscious mind so that we can by-pass the critical factor.During hypnosis, your body and conscious mind are in a relaxed, natural state while your subconscious mind remains awake and receptive to suggestion. You experience this altered state several times per day for example, as you drift into sleep, as you awaken, when you daydream and whenever you put yourself on "auto pilot" while performing a routine task such as driving, reading a book or watching TV.What Happens in a Session?A typical hypnosis session consists of a review of the intake form, discussing your goals and objectives, and resolving any misconceptions you might have about hypnosis. You will then be asked to make yourself comfortable by sitting or reclining. I, as the facilitator, will assist you in entering a state of relaxation by using creative visualization techniques and imagery. Once you are relaxed, therapeutic suggestions will be given and then you will return to full conscious awareness. What Does Hypnosis Feel Like? Most clients describe the hypnosis state as very relaxing, calming and euphoric. The most common feelings are: slight tingling or numbness, floating sensations, heaviness, a desire to swallow more frequently, rapid eye movement, slight body twitches and a noticeable change in breathing. Will I Be "Out of It"?While in a state of hypnosis, you are aware of your surroundings but feel so relaxed that normal distractions appear to fade away. You are ALWAYS in control and accept only the suggestions that are of benefit to you.Can I Be Hypnotized?Yes. However, you have to want to be hypnotized in order for it to happen. All hypnosis is self-hypnosis. You determine how deeply you will go. The success of a session is totally dependent upon your true desire to change. Even though you are here with me, you will actually be hypnotizing yourself. As a hypnotist, I give my clients suggestions that help them to focus and relax but it is still up to each client to focus and relax and to allow the hypnosis to occur. The more focused and relaxed you become, the wider the door will open to your subconscious mind, which enables you to receive the suggestions more powerfully. The Myths:· A hypnotist has power over you.· You can be given posthypnotic suggestions to do something against your moral code.· If you go into trance, you will not wake up or you could become stuck.· Only certain people can be hypnotized.· Hypnosis is anti-religious.· A posthypnotic state lasts forever. The Truth:· No one can be hypnotized against his or her will. You have to "want" to be hypnotized in order for it to happen.· When hypnotized, you will not do anything against your will.
