About Me

What you see is pretty much what you get.
I have a B.A. in French and a B.S. in Journalism plus a European Studies certificate to boot.
I like to hang out with positive people, dance like a crazy fool and ponder the vastness of the universe.
Music rules, good food rules just as hard. But most of all, I love beautiful souls.
Pollution sucks. Littering sucks. Hatred sucks. Ignorance sucks. Illiteracy sucks. War sucks. Opression sucks. The humanitarian in me wants to stop it all, the realist in me knows it can never be stopped.
I like the silence of rain and the sound of snow.
I like to write because I like the way words taste.
I STILL have no career goal in mind. Financially, it scares me. I would be happy to wander around the world for a few years... or forever.
I made a Goal List in seventh grade. I have crossed off 21 of 101 items. Not too shabby.
I like short sentences when writing for effect, but have a strange addiction to commas - most definately my favorite form of puntuation followed closely by the elipses.
I love water. I can't swim.
I was a coxswain for my rowing team.
I find it funny when high-ranking people misuse the word "myriad."
I have an addiction to long distance relationships... disasterous relationships. But always beautiful beautiful.
I seek truth.
I exaggerate.
I tell white lies to make people happy. Sissela Bok says I can.
I hate myself for all that hypocrisy.
I don't know what I want to do with my life.
I am in love with intangibles.
I fear for my profession.
I live in Romilly-sur-Seine, Champagne-Ardenne, France. Call it a lifelong dream fulfilled. I teach English to high school students. I don't think I am that good of a teacher, but maybe I am just trying too hard to change the world. My contract is up in May.
I've travelled all over the world, but the one place I call home is wherever Brandon is. I've finally managed to find someone that deserves to share my life.

My Interests

Crew, le fran?ais, photography, writing, outside, music, intelligent people, business cards, graphic design, intersting people with lives that I'll never experience, Qu?bec, Europe, creativity, freedom, sunshine, road trips, concerts, Donkey coffee, pens, artwork
Check out Antidote Apparel!

I'd like to meet:

My late great-grandfather Trygve...
People who will just talk to me, tell me their story. People who will go out and experience things with me. People that have kissed life and will tell me all about it.
I want to meet people who I can teach and those who can teach me. I want to wake each day mentally stimulated by the people I know and do not know yet.

Music:

I like intersting stuff for intesting moods
Sigh... I never seem to pick the right music or can think of what I really like. I like most of everything, save country. Ambient, new wave, hardcore, classical, classic rock, alternative, post rock, punk, pop punk, lately more hip hop than I imagined, girl rock... you know. All of it. Music.

Movies:

Donnie Darko, The Last Unicorn, American Beauty, The Big Lebowski, Snatch, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, The Matrix, Fight Club, Almost Famous, Boondock Saints, Finding Nemo, Waking Life, Wet Hot American Summer, LOTR Trilogy, Girl Interrupted, Boys Don't Cry, Forrest Gump, Office Space, Shawshank Redemption, Waiting, X-Men Trilogy, Love Actually
you know, all the typical college stuff.

Television:

Kill your TV.

But I love Project Runway... ok, anything on Bravo... and Nip/Tuck... and Deadliest Catch... and Heroes... and Jericho... oh I love TV. I hate TV.

Books:

"You know what I say to people when I hear they're writing anti-war books?"
"No. What do you say, Harrison Starr?"
"I say, 'Why don't you write an anti-glacier book instead?'"
What he meant, of course, was that there would always be wars, that they were as easy to stop as glaciers. I believe that, too.

And so it goes, Mr. Vonnegut.

Le Petit Prince, The Last Unicorn, Just a Couple of Days, Fahrenheit 451, On the Road, Cat's Cradle, The Fountainhead... all the Ast?rix albums!, White Fang, On the Road, Watership Down, Harry Potter... I should read more "big kid" books, eh?
Anything by Vonnegut, Hiaassen and the like.

Littering kills

So I was walking to class today and a seagull swooped down in front of me, picked up a muffin paper and began to eat it. Then more gulls came down and fought him for it, blissfully unaware that if the...
