About Me
The Headbangers are Ramon Gracia and Alex Ferrer, Thier history comes from two entirely different backgrounds musically, Ramon, being inspired early on by the sounds of techno, having discovered at a young age, Bandulu and Jeff Mills. These two artist were the initial inspiration and defining moments for him, Alex coming from an Industrial and Metal background, playing guitar and sampling in bands, with early influences of Nine Inch Nails, Ministry and Fear Factory. The two met @ the University of Barcelona while studying media and communications. They found a common ground through electronic music and decided to work together. In 2004 they formed, the Headbangers, with the idea in mind of creating their own fresh sound but having always in their minds the roots that had brought them there: Detroit, Berlin, Birmingham, NY or Chicago.Being fortunate enough to experience the Barcelona nightlife scene as it has grown over the years, has helped them tremendously. With some of the biggest and brightest talent in the world gracing the sound systems, and the energy of the people in Barcelona has educated Ramon and Alex as to exactly how people can respond to the sounds of techno. This education carries over into the ideas they put forth in their music. Organic, big room pumping grooves with vibrant energetic sounds and elements. The Headbangers sound stretches far beyond the typical, hard monotone kick drum and percussion minimal sound, that has saturated modern day Techno. The Headbangers believe music is the key, and craft more melodic arrangements. Believing the sounds and melody are the for brain and the beat is for the body. This is apparent in the music they make. Thier musical influences and background compell them to utilize these elements to produce more "song" based works versus "track" based arrangements. The Headbangers are not alone, through their friendships with such names as Dan Physics (Weave Records/ Sonic Groove), Richard Hinge (Conrail Records), Adam X (Sonic Groove), Frankie Bones (Sonic Groove / Hard To Swallow), They will utilize these reltionships for remix projects on thier label, as well as releases by these and other great artists. The near future of Headbangers starts on the remix of Electric boys for Cat Complex on the Miami based label Destune in 2006.
