As far as religion goes the more disorganized the better, and I couldn't find Ignosticism in the pulldown for religion :). Siddhartha Gautama sure seemed to have an excellent handle on mindfulness as a set of extremely useful psychological practices. So if you really twisted my arm about the religion thing I would say Buddist minus the metaphysics due to their general unverifiablility (as far as I can tell) within any system of thought. Then I'd still argue that anything any "religion" monolithic enough to have a name is potentially problematic given the fact that third party "metaphysical incentivization" is the bain of civilization.
"random variables". please please please no ego or taking yourself too seriously though, life's too short.
Talking Heads, Radiohead (named afer a Talking Heads song "Radio Head"...had to be good), TV on the Radio (1st album "OK Calculator" named after a Radiohead album "OK Computer"...had to be good, thanks gl and hm!) Built to Spill (thanks gl!), The Angry Orts (thanks s!), The Chemical Brothers, Liz Phair, Dave Mathews Band, Beastie Boys, David Grey, The Clash, Ratatat (thanks eg!) Feist (thanks dx!), Alice in Chains, Beth Orton, Cocteau Twins, Soundgarden, SquarePusher, Throwing Muses, Mazzy Star, Led Zeppelin, Fiona Apple, Jane's Addiction, Kristen Hersh, Modest Mouse, Catherine Wheel, David Byrne, P.I.L., REM, RJD2, Underworld , etc... (ok and a bunch of this stuff even though it's intellectually problematic from a content standpoint it's just that real ryhming talent is so rare... Missy Elliot, Cypress Hill, 50 Cent, Ice Cube, NWA, recent Eminem, Atmospere etc... I don't take the content seriously and even the artists really can't either, I mean come on, so it's ok as far as I can tell.)
I dig good movies... compiling the list right now. Anything by Kubrick is excellent.
Please do not waste your life like that. Just kidding (sort of) but I really don't like to watch the thing. If I do it's most likely a DVD of something incredibly asinine like Family Guy, Da Ali G Show, South Park, Arrested Development, Curb your Enthusiasm, etc. just because they are totally ridiculous and don't take themselves seriously in any way.
I really really like reading... compiling the list right now. Ok I'll put a few out there. I tend to find an author and then eat all of their work alive so maybe I'll list a few author and the easiest entry point and you can take it from there... but be careful I tend to read things that you can't ever come back from: Manuel Castells (The Rise of The Network Society, The Information Age: Economy, Society and Culture, Volume I), Hunter S. Thompson (Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas), John Kennedy Toole (A Confederacy of Dunces), Deleuze and Guattari (Capitalism and Schizophrenia), Chuck Palaniuk (Fight Club basically a good piece of fiction illustrating "Capitalism and Schizophrenia" cause who the hell can make heads or tails of 50% of "Capitalism and Schizophrenia"), Nietzsche (Thus Spoke Zarathustra), Manuel de Landa (War in the Age of Intelligent Machines), Freud (Civilization And its Discontents)... just a few fun random selections in no particular order. I suppose its an addiction of sorts but I figure I could be doing worse things with my time... more to come.
