About Me

It started in 1991 when entrepreneur Eric Hogan and his two partners, Scott Sylvia and Nate Sponsler, opened up a tattoo shop in a basement. This little shop would come to be known as American Graffiti. As their quality work spread throughout town, business began to really pick up. It was very apparent this group was not suited for a basement, and with business booming, it was time for a larger shop.In 1995 the crew got just that, an old Victorian, two-story house in the heart of downtown Sacramento. It was there that the artists continued to put out top quality tattoos and that same year American Graffiti opened up another location in Davis, California. For the next six years the two shops flourished. Eric had achieved his dream of becoming a world-class tattoo artist and owning his own successful shops. After the tragic death of Eric Hogan on April 7, 2001, his wife Thea Hogan took over as owner of the shops and is currently pursuing a career as a tattoo artist. Before Eric left us, he apprenticed his younger brother, Eiland Hogan, who is an amazing talent. He owns and operates his own shop, keeping the family name a strong presence in the business. American Graffiti is all about family and good business and that is why it has been home to amazing tattoo artists like Freddy Corbin, Scott Sylvia, Jeff Whitehead, Wrath, Rob Hostetter, Django, Tycho Veldhoen, Jim Vanis, Eric Ross, Eiland Hogan, Curtis Phillips, Lee Hanna and Brent Pattan. American Graffiti has also played host to numerous world renowned tattoo artists such as Gil Montie, Permanent Mark, Hori-Kin, Adam Ciferri, Beppe, Moe Copelletta, Juan Puente, Jeff Rassier, Jared (from Aces), Pee Wee, Rudy Fritsch, Amanda Toy and Marco Hernandez.American Graffiti is currently home to piercer; Big Eric, as well as tattoo artists; RJ., Ryan Tanton, Andy Campoy, Eric Ross and Thea Hogan and is now located at 1617 J Street in downtown Sacramento.American Graffiti has built the reputation as a shop that takes pride in its work and offers nothing but the best. American Graffiti is truly an American shop that represents good business, time honored traditions and family.
