“J RillA†Born and raised in Flint, Michigan, Joe Ryan III (“J RillAâ€) began to reveal his musical talent in 1994 at age 8. By playing the organ, drums and piano at his family-owned church, fate was set into motion that music would be his calling. “At that age I really didn’t assume that music would be my career, but my mother always told me everyday that I was destined for greatness, so I knew that my career would be specialâ€, says J RillA. A small taste of destiny was when J RillA was a 5th grader, he would win a lyrical competition at Atwood Stadium in Flint, MI. To ensure that he would have every opportunity to attain that destiny, his parents moved the family to the suburbs of Madison Heights, Michigan in the year 2000. Because of the 100% cultural change in environment, J RillA began to keep to himself, until he heard the CD of a student at his high-school. “I was really focused on basketball at that time, but when I heard that CD, it was as if my calling was revealed to me†says J RillA. A week after that revelation, J RillA began writing songs and asked the student to record him. He and the student would then produce a CD that sold 211 copies at $10 each. In 2001, J RillA began a two-person group named “2Nyce†and would perform for the first time at his hometowns’ Back-To-School Rally. One year later, the group would then open for the Sony BMG duet “Aja†at a high school event in Madison Heights, Michigan. In 2003, J RillA was selected as a member of the Junior National Olympic All-State/All-American Basketball team to represent Michigan, which would earn him recognition to earn a partial scholarship to the NCAA Division II, Tiffin University in 2004. Before attending college, J RillA was introduced to the music production program Fruity Loops and began making beats daily. In August of 2004, J RillA’s passion for music production had grown immensely and began to interfere with his basketball practices. J RillA states “I would skip or arrive late to practice because I was always trying to find ways to improve my music to sound more professional.†That determination led him to drop out of college at the end of the first semester of his freshman year. “I felt like I was only playing basketball so people wouldn’t think I couldn’t rise to the challenge of playing in college; and even though I didn’t want to do it anymore, it was hard to part ways with because I had been doing it for so long. I basically had to come to the realization that this is my life, I have to live it and be satisfied with it at the end of the day, so I leftâ€, said J RillA. After leaving college, J RillA formed and registered “BedRoc Records†jointly with his older sister Pasha and “BedRoc Productions†solely. In 2006, the genuinely heart-felt single “A Star In The Makingâ€, debuted in Madison, Wisconsin on the University of Wisconsin student radio station. This single would be requested multiple times by locals in the area. Soon after J RillA made his way into the world of radio, Myspace.com was privileged to add him and the BedRoc family to the music section of their site. After only 2 weeks, “A Star In The Makingâ€, registered 1,293 plays with 29 people adding the song to their own individual pages. Early in 2007, J RillA’s track “Welcome To RillAdelphia†was added to the song inventory of Detroit radio station 102.7 by DJ “Big Keithâ€, and is being showcased to other stations through 105.9’s own DJ “Tune Upâ€. Currently, at the age of 21, a father of two twin boys, J RillA continues to be a favorite in the Midwestern region by releasing tracks that have excellent production, appealing lyrics, and creative flow Continuing to produce tracks through fruity loops and networking with artists such as Dylan Dilinjah, Kid Capri and Andre Rison, J RillA is absorbing every element of music to eventually enter into the industry. Recently, J RillA was blessed with the opportunity to be represented by Artist Manager Pasha Chaney, also of Flint, Michigan. “I really feel like Pasha “gets it†and has my best interest at HEART, I feel I am being represented by a person who is on the exact same page as I am professional, morally and as far as the intricate study of science involved in music†said J RillA in a recent interview. That same page mentally has allowed Pasha to open up professional doors that J RillA could not open alone. J RillA is exhausting every ounce of energy to produce, mix and master locals’ tracks and albums in hopes of getting his company BedRoc off the ground when he is not traveling to network or outside producing. J RillA has been very strongly networking in Atlanta, GA and setting up meetings and progressing very positively and at a steady pace. Alongside J RillA’s busy schedule of taking his production to the next level, he is also rapidly approaching the conclusion of his well polished album “Past Due Noticeâ€, which is set to hit air-waves Dec. 13th of 2008, after a very big performance at the year-end RAVE in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. “I am pretty excited about this album because it shows my growth and really gives my fans the inside story of my life struggles and triumphs. This album is definitely to let those who don’t know who J RillA is that I have been and am here to stay. It has been a very rough, rugged, life changing year for me and I keep it real on the album to bring you in on those moments, emotions and trials, while at the same time entertaining you on a commercial level to give my fans a balance so I hope a good result comes from this album†said J RillA.
