Hey everybody! Just some awesome updates! Music video shoot for "Sympathies and Condolences" is this Saturday! Riki and Alex sword fight back in the day! Yeah!Stay tuned and read our blog if you can sing!
Founded by Jason and Alex in the middle of '06, the band was only an idea. Joined in was a friend, Chris, on rhythm guitar. During a school band concert, Jason and Alex spoke to a flutist/percussionist, Riki. All they needed was a name and they were set to start. At Jason's 8th grade graduation party, after shuffling through thousands of names, a name was chosen. While playing pool in the garage, Alex came to Riki and Jason, ecstatic. Explaining how kids were playing chicken at the edge of the pool, the important part came. Alex shoved the kid in the back of the line and they all fell into the pool like dominoes. Realizing that this name had meanings for everything (such as communism in Asia, and creating a chain reaction of new and original music), Jason, Riki, and Chris all agreed that this name topped all of the original ideas. And so, with many meanings, The Domino Effect was just about ready to start.Later on, it was realized that Chris had just started and was fairly inexperienced (in comparison, at least, to the other band members). With only a few months of practice in his sleeve, a mutual decision took place in which Chris left the band until, if necessary, more experience was gained. Jason, Alex, and Riki were originally afraid that this would hurt friendships, but Chris understood and everybody moved on, keeping in touch.About three months later, Alex, Jason, and Riki realized that, with nobody holding experience in vocals, the band would quickly come to a halt.
Band practices were spent, then, making fliers in search of a vocalist. It was only literally two and a half hours after the fliers were put up that Jason received a call from a girl named Brice, who played 3 years of rhythm guitar, had proper equipment, and a good deal of experience singing. We eagerly met up that weekend and worked on some covers, the first being All the Small Things. Shy and quiet, there was little decision progress made, but after tighter bonds, about a week or two in, Jason, Alex, and Riki had befriended Brice (and of course vise-versa) and with some tweaking and democratic discussion, it was without any problems made final on 12/19/06.In the new year of 2007, The Domino Effect kick-starts into high gear. After only 3 months of solid practice, we have shared the stage with tons of bands and it is such an amazing honor to be able to play with these bands and for our usual crowd. We'd be nowhere without all of the support from both fans, friends, and bands.
We have recently lost Brice and wish the best for her. Check our blog if you can sing!We let the music speak for ourselves, and we have nothing more to tell you about what we are like and who we are. You can be the judge, and whether you like us or not, and no matter how much you think we suck, no matter how many times you tell us we cant do it, remember that we'll still be there, and we'll make you like us.- TDE
