About Me

REMOTE is a relatively new LA-based rock outfit. All four members aren't exactly newcomers to the scene. Los Angeles locals Ran and Tal were first signed with RCA and then Sony/Edel releasing two records as electro-pop outfit Mankind Liberation Front. Schreiber, who joined the Pink brothers in early 2004 to form Remote, played previously with L.A. rockers Sacrilicious. Guitarist Mike Lewis has been a veteran of the Nor Cal scene since the late 90s.STYLISTICALLY, the band has crafted a sound that is both old and new. "Being from L.A. we're gonna stay clear of this-meets-that type of comparisons." But influences are evident in their songwriting. Sufficed to say, Remote is more ELO than Beatles, more XTC than Radiohead. Songwriting starts with the piano and remains a key element of their live performance. As Ran and Tal share lead vocal duties, their genetically similar tones complement each other to the point where you can't always tell who sings what until you see them live.BIRD'S EYE VIEW was recorded in a period of two years, during that time Ran Pink, member and producer, enlisted the talents of Mellissa Kaplan of Universal Hall Pass and world class trumpeter Avishai Cohen for the song Add it Up. Clint Bennett (Beck, Wilco) and Bryan Carrigan (Aerosmith, Seal) provided their mixing expertise to the project. The result is a well crafted collection of songs that will appeal to both mainstream and independent audiences.
