Rica aka West Philthy is the complete package. Not only one of the hottest MC's to come out of Philadelphia but also one of the sharpest young business minds and song writers on the map Today.
Rica was born and raised in the mean streets of West Philadelphia where his style was hardened by the sights and experiences of growing up in such a place. At a young age, seeing his exceptional intelligence his mother transferred him out to the best suburban private schools where he learned the invaluable lessons of how to deal and be comfortable outside of Streets. This early balance from the hood and the books are what crafted everything that he is today. A perfectionist by nature, anything Rica does he masters and is willing to put in the time it takes to become masterful in whatever craft he takes on.
In addition to his fledging new label he is also involved in multiple other business ventures. Along with Model/Photographer "Aces Wild" (President of Ace Photos) co-own and operate one of the hottest new modeling agencies nationwide...U.G.L.I. Inc. "Man that's my baby, because I didn't know the first thing about it when I started it. It was like having a newborn...and to watch it grow to where we are now just makes you feel good about all the hard work."
When asked what do you want people to think of you R.I.C.A. replies "I'm a regular nigga, just like you...I eat 3 wings rock a white tee and some trees, I walk thru the deuce damn near every day. I ride the EL all that u dig, I'm not no super thug nigga, I have no reason to scream and yell on dvds to get my gangsta across. I'm a real nigga, I'm hood...I keep it regular. On the musical tip, think of me as the shit...yea...cocky huh, lol, well that's me too Mr. Cocky Bastard...love it or hate it. When I spit, its the piff...everytime. Its not about that anymore...its about making good songs that people inside and outside of my walk of life can feel and enjoy. I write everything from rap to r&b to whateva, I can sing...so yea i may sing a song cuz i feel like it...get over it. I'm a open minded dude and I have real LOVE for my city and the music. Not this fake ass I love Philly but only this block or only these couple niggas...fuck that, we'll never make it with that attitude. These niggas down south are cheesin cuz they grind together, a city that grinds together shines together yamean.... Big up to ALL my Philly niggas tryna make it. I got us...I promise"
Rica 's Debut EP "El Prezydente : The Beginning" (March ’06) as well as the ’07 mixtape “Rica 4 President†both show his endless versatility and promise. The Newest Mixtape "BlueBerry Kush" is on its way to the streets and his first major LP release under the now Blue Collar/Philty Records Stamp titled "A.B.C.'s (All Bets Count)." is slated to be released Winter '09.
