THE NAME:
"Dragon aka Money"Born Krishnan Noel Alexander on December 25th 1984 ,the "Dragon " portion of the name was his street name from about the age of 15 partly Influenced by admiration of "Ruff Ryder" Drag-On . It would be another 2 years before Dragon would discover that he had the ability to put songs together . In 2001 in a spur of the moment madness while on"the block" in his home town Jetrine listenin to Eminem over their Boom Box, He and his crew decided they should make their own rap songs. They needed a name 4 the rap crew and also names for each M.C. The crew was eventually called The Inmates and Dragon settled .... much deliberation of going with other options such as "Toatz" or "Arsonist" .His final choice was made because he felt the name represented that he was hot and could spit fire . 2002, Dragon met Young Mecca , slipped him his demo (mecca would tell him later this was the only demo he ever listened to entirely - probably cuz it was on tape and not cd that he could have skipped the trax lol) Mecca kicked some Knowledge to Dragon about how to better his music , how to produce beats and also how to get his music on cd . He also introduced Dragon to Sherwinn "Dupes" Brice , a well accomplished local producer. With Dragon's new knowledge he self produced and recorded his first "Cd" called "MONEY" . The Font of the title was so much bigger than "Dragon" and since he was relatively unknown at that point , the people who came across his cd thought his name was Money and so they called by that. As a result Dragon embraced the name and thus the birth of "aka Money" an alter ego hellbent on getting that money. The Albums:
"Coming 2 America /Special Edition""I was listening To Dipset's 'Family Ties" and Hell Rell went 'got africans thats coming 2 america, wit the best dope thats coming 2 america' and instantly i went , yow thats it , thats what im gonna call my first album" In January 2007 Dragon released his first "In studio" album entitled "Coming 2 America" featuring 17 tracks . 3 Months later he released "Coming 2 America Special Edition" " I had to go back in studio and get it right , i guess i was new at recording in studio and so i wasn't happy wit my delivery at times so i went back and did 5 new songs and dropped 4, so thats what the Special Edition is ...Perfection of Coming 2 america . That album is my most personal , i touch on everything from my mother , father , my girl , god my fears , my goals . I think my intention with the album was to have a song 4 everybody on there .but the main theme was to let ppl know that im coming 2 america to get mines"THE FIREBRAND :"Trouble starter .... thats what Firebrand means in a nut shell and that was my intention with this album" . The album released in December 2007 , same year as his debut album , shows improvement from the previous album in terms of flow and lyrical content. Dragon also turns it up a notch for club goers , with 4 cuts including "Bad Girl" and "Watch Her". Though he's less personal on this record , Dragon delivers well with "R.i.p." dedicated 2 his grandma and long time child hood friend and "Understand Me" a kind of part 2 to his smash "Tears on my Pillow" off Coming 2 America Special edition. True to the firebrand theme , the album doesn't stop short of controversial cuts , like "Think they Know me " , "i'm Happy ", "The Firebrand " and the gold -digger bashing M.O.N.E.Y." This Album though not designed 4 all listeners , will be considered a really good effort by any Hip Hop Head.
