About Me

I am the mother of nine, grandmother of twenty and growing. Our youngest was born with multiple "handicaps", a word which I dislike but that society deems acceptable. Sara was physically and mentally challenged but she was smarter than most people I have ever met. I have a large family which includes nieces, nephews, cousins and distant relatives, some of whom are still located in England. I have a wee bit of Irish in me, a wee bit of French and a bit more German. I married a man of Polish heritage who also has Irish and a bit of French mixed in his genes. We are a "hines fifty seven mix" as my Dad always said. I like to think I am an out-going open-minded woman but I am particular about friends and though I respect your right to express yourself as you like and will defend that right, if it turns my cheeks pink I will most likely avoid looking...I believe all of us are and should be treated as equals, one no better than the other but I also believe we make of ourselves what we will and should not blame anyone or anything else for how we turn out. There comes a time to throw away the excuses of the past and decide if we will continue or stand on our own feet and become what we want. Soap box aside....I hope to make good friends and aquaintances here on myspace. I am here for that purpose but also to "brag" about the great experience I had being Sara's mom...p.s. I forgot Cody and Sammi, our four legged kids...
If one woman can be really happy about life it's me. I WILL find something every day that reminds me it all is worthwhile. I had the best teacher in the world; Sara...our youngest daughter who was born to carry more burdens in life than most strong people could handle and she did it with a multitude of dignity. I am a walking tribute to her life. In watching and learning from her I hope I became a worthwhile human being and though I may not always find respect in the eyes or opinions of others...I can live with myself. Her lessons live on......
Sara...our beloved angel.

My Interests

Books, Current movies, Quiet weekend evenings at home. Staying in touch with family and friends,my new job and most important Holding onto God for dear life to get me through it all.

I'd like to meet:

Celine Dion...she has a good soul and is a wonderfully talented singer. I know she lost a beloved niece at the age of sixteen from Cystic Fibrosis which is what claimed our beautiful daughter when she was twenty-two so I feel a kindred spirit there. I still cry when I hear her songs because Sara loved her music as well, most of all the theme from The Titanic..."My Heart Will Go On." It was her second favorite movie next to "Free Willy". She would listen for hours to Celine as she was curled up under a fleece throw while the snow was flying....and to Michael Jackson singing "Will You Be There". I was so fortunate to have been chosen to be her mother. I wouldn't exchange that experience for anything in the world...none of us who knew her ever would.....sharing how wonderful it was knowing her has been a long time goal for me. At long last I can do that...

Part 9...Sara Still Teaching Us

The weather had been bleak for weeks; snow flurries, wind and cold, stubborn patches of snow tucked under the trees in the shaded areas. Though it was nearly the end of April winter didn't want to loo...
