The Petersons

Australia has a history of some superb partnerships by brothers. The Waugh brothers (cricket), The Jarman boys (AFL), the Daddos (entertainment) and the Young brothers (AC/DC) to name the most obvious ones that have shaped Australian life thus far. Well folks, add a new name to that list; the Moerman brothers (Brendan, Chris and Stuart)...they are the three brothers that compose the guitar section of The Petersons. These likely lads have furthered the list of families with rock rolling through their shared genes, by enlisting their cousin Adam Ganglen for the drumming duties.
You might think that The Petersons have had metaphoric rise to fame (ala Artic Monkeys, The Strokes, The Tin Lids) but it's just not true. Each band member has been gigging around A-town in much loved and credible rock bands. Brendan in Russian Teammate, Chris and Adam in Hummel, and Stuart from his seriously rockin' out in his bedroom. So although the musical journey may have only started "officially" within the last 12 months, a band with this kind of familial kinship has really been destined to happen since Stuart passed puberty.
So if you the burning question in your head is what on earth do The Petersons sound like? Think the Patridge family meets Interpol, its uplifting and melodic, yet brooding and indie. They don't own a bus or live in New York, but there is plans for a television series, they are just waiting for the networks to call them back.
Many people have questioned why a band who has ¾ of its members with the surname Moerman wouldn't just call them selves; The Moermans or the more obvious The Mormons? Well, it would all be a bit to Southpark, plus it would be demeaning to poor Adam Ganglen. So instead, they've chosen the very earthy, the authentically Oz rock name The Petersons because each of these guys has a dad named Peter. Therefore in an appropriately dad joke kind of way they are all in reality, Peter's sons. Strange, yes, but they swear that doesn't mean they share dads with their cousin. So stop asking questions and listen to the music! Its fresh, its cool, it's so hot right now!
