okay then.. Listening to and playing music (obviously), reading, biking, making random comments about things that really have little or no bearing on what's actually happening, making up random Hiakus', video games, pinball, ignoring gramatical constraints, cooking nice food for other people (I can live on chilidogs and coffee), conversation, wasting countless hours on the web accomplishing nothing (other than to pass the time) and getting nasty with the neo-cons on the history channels webpage...oh! and did I mention drinking lots and lots of coffee? and OH CRAP! I just finally went and checked out the Kingdom of Loathing game :)) :)) I think I have a new addiction...
well.. looks like I seem to have met her.. but general conversation is always welcome.
I like almost everything, although I have to say I'm not too much into this whole new country thing.. or nu-metal (yeah yeah yeah anyone can sound that tight with a drum trigger jimmy! and how's about singing something.. not just screaming unintelligable words at the top of your lungs.. and don't get me started on the newer rap-metal... some is good most is cheap knock offs.. no tell me how you really feel!) Gangta-rap.. yawn! ( that is sooooo 90's :D pimpin' hoes? slammin cadillac dohs'.. naw not for me), most hip-hop (although I have to say there is some really creative and cool stuff out there.. just most of it is repetitive and trite), this whole music phase that KJ has been playing...gurk...I know you've heard it.. a steady drum beat with the occasional bizz, buzz, pop.... whoop sound.. oh make it stop! and while we're on THAT topic... look, indie music used to be.. oh, I don't know good? or atleast not crap.. one more bright-eyes knock off band and I'm going to break a boot off in someones ass!).... Hmmm. while I'm at it, most of the current crop of 'top 40' pffth! canned mediocrity! okay, yes. they figured out the formulae to make a 'hit song'... still doesn't mean it's good. and lastly in the long listof genres I don't really like (but keep in mind there are exceptions to all of these.. of course) most electronica...I'm not saying it's not a valid artform, I just don't like it.other than that..heh. I'll give anything a chance.Right now I'm basking in the warm/sad glow of the NEW YES!! NEW Lucero album (although all told I am of the opinion that their self titled album and Tennessee are far better, then again.. different strokes and all that. and no, don't do the 'What's up Willis' quote.. I know it's hard not to! but please try and restrain yourself :) .
oh geez.. where to start... one of my all time favorite movies is it's a wonderful life, yeah I know I KNOW! it's sappy and all that but then again, admit it! at the end of the movie you get a little soft spot (anyone who doesn't atleast get a little moist in the eyes is someone you don't want to have anything to do with). other than that I'm a big Tim Burton fan, actually I like any movie that has a good story (or conversely a really bad one. I range from everything from high drama to kung-fu flicks.. although one of my favorite genres` is old universal horror films (I know it comes from being born around halloween :)) ). so I like anything that isn't formulaic (and even then...) okay so I'll watch anything!.. alright I've been watching Dark City for a day straight.. wel.. it's on in the background.. damn fine movie! although what's his nuts kiefer southerland... playing a semi aged doctor.. doesn't fly.. never has never will.. It just gets me to thinking about how much it would suck to have a reputation to live up to like that.. I mean Donald Southerland ROCKS!!!.. although Lost Boys is a teenage favorite and the weird ass re-telling of 'little red ridinghood' he did in the late 90's was creeptastic... anyway I ought to try to sleep some more.. three days off + Brandt=bad idea
well.. I do like television.. I mean I own one, however I haven't had cable in about 3 years.. not that I'm opposed to it as such (and well it's kinda fun to watch the commercials and figure out how they are trying to sell their product, which market/demographic.. what 'they' think appeals to them ~or perhaps does~ eh.. kind of a hobbie.. yes I do get that bored), I just don't really want to give dolph simons anymore of my money, and geez it's just too expensive for what you get.other than that I love the simpsons and adult swim.. all of cartoon network really, sci-fi channel, history channel, animal channels, CNN/Cspan.. and although I am loathe to admit it I've been addicted to 'days of our lives' for about 12 years... BUT IT'S NOT MY FAULT!!!! (yeah, still somewhere between denial and anger).. other than that I watch movies.
the list is too long to even think about breaking my fingers to type it.. suffice to say I'm a voracious reader. although I think everyone who likes sci-fi/fantasy really ought to take C.S. Friedman out for a spin, she is an awesome writer.. The Coldfire Trillogy is excellent and In Conquest Born.. wow... good stuff!
well... actually I just read on a friends page something that I wish I had said.. so I'm stealing it... well... borrowing it."Everybody loves a hero. People line up for them, cheer them, scream their names. And, years later tell how they stood for hours in the cold rain just to catch a glimpse of the one who taught them to hold on a second longer. I believe there's a hero in all of us who keeps us honest, gives us strength, makes us noble, and finally allows us to die with pride, even though sometimes we have to be steady, and give up the thing we want the most. Even our dreams."so spaketh Mazzy
