RED STRIPE MUSIC AWARDS
Seeing this band for the 2nd time in 3 days its clear i have been missing out on something. Groups with sharp wit are more a product of Sheffield but it seems we have one in our midst. The Krm are a strange animal, looking like the fallout from a nuclear bomb in Topshop and sounding like a carcrash between Guns n' Roses & The Wonderstuff they set about on a mission that takes the crowd into places they never dare expect. Songs like " This is Brilliant Rock " & " Kissing (tastes like cigarettes) " are classic rock/pop fodder but throw in covers of T. rex, Sweet and Elvis(?) and you see this band like blowing things wide open. Im a fan now and anyone that namechecks Jon Bon Jovi is class. The guy in the curry shop looked at me stupid when i was playing " Super High-Flying Rocket Powered Man" on my mp3 player...soon he might understand.
THE WAKEFIELD MUSIC COLLECTIVE
A complete change of mood came at Garforth Arts Festival in the guise of the KRM, which I found out stood for the Kolorado Rock Machine from Wakefield. They rocked everyone’s socks off, to put it mildly. Arriving on stage to an Ennio Morricone spaghetti westen theme, they took the audience by the throat and did not relent, their great songs, which included ‘This Is Brilliant Rock’, ‘Livin’ The Daft Life’ and ‘Kissing’ – check out their myspace - played out with lots of fun and plenty of posturing from Adam, the lead singer.
