Veronika Voss formed in a shithole of a town in the south of a degenerated country called Italy in 1993-they were named after a Fassbinder film about dependancy,love,deception and yeah, DEATH!They were Gemma on vocals,Gypsy on guitars,Vanni on the drums and Marco first, then later Claudio on the bazz.They were very young,very pretty,very loud and very hungry.Ultimately they proved to be too much of all that and decided to sod off in a blaze of glory flicking a coupla, just a coupla mind you,of fingers up the damn complacent zombies wobbling through the national music industry, including the prezz,the muthafucking stinky italian music prezz,half-witted leeches on a diet of frustration and contrived intellectual postures.YUK!They released their first little demo FILE 215 on a CASSETTE tape,yes kids those were the days,A.D. 1993, and their first self-released album ANTIPOP(1994) on their drag of a label SCUM IN TRANCE.Further to that, and a million riot gigs and (necessarily confused,often misleading and lost for words) reviews,VERONIKA VOSS put out a 7" split , namely a little sharp slab of distilled anger called ASSHOLE'S NATION, on the URLO magazine and, shortly after, a double A-sided 7" under the name of FRANTIC/SO WHAT on the now kaput OVADA RECORDS.Reviews airplay stagedives and random car crashes followed each other in the very short life span this semtex butterfly here had left to its noisy self. In the meantime the band kept writing and the result of those last glorious few months can today be heard on the ALADAR SESSION ep (you spot the reference and you get a discount on it),once again released on SCUM IN TRANCE.The people who made the above possible keep infesting the airwaves in different forms and shapes and they have been doing on and off since 1996, "the year that Veronika Voss broke(down)" You can check some of the offspring of this shortlived splinter around the top 8 area here in the garden.
