About Me

Hi...welcome to my space! Technically I'm new to Cape Town, but it's always felt like home. Like half of Cape Town I'm from PE and moved up/down here (no one seems to know which!) for work. I started off studying Art & Design at a technical college, but was persuaded by the "what will you do with art?" comment to do something more practical & academic. So I did a BA degree in Media, majoring in English, Design and Contemporary Culture...and was bored stiff most of the time, except maybe in Maths, English and Design. I applied for and was offered a couple of jobs, but decided to settle with a Stills Production company, and I'm lovin' it. I'm assisting the director of the company, which involves office administration as well as checking on the clients on location to make sure the shoot is running smoothly, and I'm heading up the marketing and design, which is great. I miss my family, we're very close. I love Jesus, the great taboo. I am very good at a lot of things, and terrible at some, which I'm loathe to admit. I work too hard and play too little, which I will admit! And I'm beginning to realise that I write too much and say too little, oh well...it will have to do :)

My Interests

Art & design, reading, cooking and even baking (I'm a sucker for pastry!), good movies, sleeping (a nap in the afternoon is good for you!), running, sports, late night chats with friends and family, eating out, travel, the beach, holidays (won't be having one of those for a while), languages (I speak German), change & learning new things.

I'd like to meet:

I hardly ever come online, so good luck meeting me!

Music:

I like so much, but I'm terrible at remembering names and songs, etc - I'll love it, but have no idea who they are! Here are a few I can remember: Jamiroquai, John Mayer, Jamie Cullum, Sade, Simply Red, John Legend, James Taylor (fond childhood memories of my dad's vinyls), Delirious?, Switchfoot, Coldplay, Tree63, Judith Sepuma, Nat King Cole, the girl who sings "Put Your Record On"?!, aaaagghh, see? I give up!

Movies:

Another blank area, but here goes...Casablanca (love it, especially Ingrid's head flick in Rick's apartment!), Momento, Gone With The Wind, Step Mom (when I feel like a good cry), James Bonds, Sliding Doors (for the "that's what I'm trying to do, you cripple!" scene), Fun with Dick and Jane (and I'm not even a Jim Carrey fan), Amelie (for the colours and the irony), and loads of others I cannot access now!

Television:

I don't watch much TV, I'm hardly ever at home, but Seinfeld is an addiction. Sometimes while I'm eating supper, I'll hop from 7de Laan to Isidingo. Shock, horror! Oh the joys of only having 4 channels :)

Books:

There are SO many...'Pride & Predjudice' and Jane Austen in general, 'Gone With The Wind' & the sequel, 'Scarlett', Oscar Wilde's 'The Picture of Dorian Grey', Peter Hoeg's 'Miss Smilla's Feeling for Snow', DH Laurence's "The Mayor of Castorbridge', Zakes Mda's 'The Heart of Redness', Chinua Achebe's 'Things Fall Apart', the Bible, John Fowles' 'The French Lieutenant's Woman', Henry James, especially 'The Portrait of a Lady', and so many more. Old favourites include Francine Rivers, Rosamunde Pilcher, M.M Kaye and even Marian Keyes for some easy chick lit. I'll pretty much read anything. Currently busy with Michael Eaton's 'How to Live a Godly Life: The Biblical Doctrine of Sanctification'.

Heroes:

my dad, my brother...I've never been the groupie type.
