About Me

Dally in the Alley began in 1977 as a North Cass neighborhood art fair. It has since grown into a neighborhood celebration of local musicians, artists, restaurants and vendors of all sorts. This year The Museum Of Contemporary Art and Design (MOCAD) will be curating the art gallery and Broadside Press will conduct a poetry and writing workshop for kids during the kids fair. There are four stages of music ranging from jazz, blues, hip hop, garage rock, techno, acoustic sets and more. The artwork for this years poster art and t-shirts will be created by Ron Zakrin. This year marks the 30th annual celebration of Dally in the Alley so come down and support you local artists!

The collaboration’s goal is to divert 50% of the waste stream by collecting: Plastic #1-7, aluminum cans, paper, and cardboard.

This “Green Trio” were responsible for making this year’s Movement: Detroit’s Electronic Music Festival 2008 a “green event.” Volunteers from Recycle Detroit were able to capture 3,000 pounds of recyclables from the festival’s waste stream. A team of Recycle Detroit’s volunteers also participated at this year’s Michigan’s Rothbury Music Festival. Recycle Detroit’s collaboration with Spitfire Agency was successful with diverting 75% of the Rothbury’s waste stream.

This will be Recycle Detroit’s third year participating with the NCCU and their green initiatives. Recycle Detroit will take the initiative to make the Dally in the Alley 2008 the “cleanest festival in the city.” This project will require over 100+ volunteers and will need the cooperation of the community in order to be successful. Recycle Detroit’s goal is to divert at least 50% of the waste into recyclables. There will be recycling stations set up through out the festival, which Recycle Detroit will have two bins collecting recyclables and waste separately.
