About Dead Channel
We are a promo group from St.Petersburg, Russia. We work in the so-called "dark scene", primarily the electro-industrial part of it, since June 2005. Since that time, we've had numerous club events, such as EBM , Futurepop and Industrial parties, the first ever Russian EBM festival.
We have started our way as a small, but very enthusiastic group of EBM fans who were upset with the lack of its presence in the gothic scene (which, at that moment, was rather gothic, indeed). We began with a series of EBM parties, intended to draw attention to the uprising electro-industrial movement. The-Pulsar , the only true EBM band from Russia at that moment, was a special guest on one of those parties; it was one of their first live shows and it was very successful. During this period of time we have also launched our first web site, ebm.net.ru , to build a community around it.
In September, 2005 we decided to go further by starting a new line of parties, called FUBAR . It was originally intended to add EBM's close relatives, such as futurepop and aggro-industrial, to the programme. Unexpectedly, an interactive on-stage show became the key component, having a huge success and making FUBAR the most popular bandless periodic event in the local dark scene (see "Nuclear Winter").
March, 2006 was another turning point, where we became to spread our hands outside St.Petersburg. The first Russian EBM festival brought six bands, from different parts of Russia, together on one stage. Three promising bands (Wavefall, Invalid Love and Nec Plus Ultra ) have had their first on-stage appearance outside their home towns.
July, 2006 saw our first experience in working with foreign artists. XP8 (Italy) and Unter Null helped us celebrate one year of our existence and spread the word about us outside Russia. It was reportedly a great experience for the bands, and it was an invaluable one for us. During this period we also receive a request for collaboration from Advoxya Records , which finalizes our thoughts on launching an on-line shop, dedicated solely to the dark scene.
One year of existence is not much, but enough for us to look back. Many things done, many lessons learned. One of our never ending plans is to build a stronger community; starting from September, there will be an electro-industrial club night every second weekend. Another plan is to consolidate numerous promoters, working in the scene, and help them work together; we have several ideas regarding this plan, which include periodic press.
