About Me

The music journey for me all started with organ lessons at seven years old. I always had to practice before I could go out to play baseball with my friends. After a little while, I would love to make up my own songs. In seventh/eighth grade I was playing organ with my first band called "The Sykik Sound". I THOUGHT that was a cool name at the time! At 13 years old I joined a band (with my parent's permission) called the"Knights of Brass" - it was a group of kids aged 13 (me) thru 17 doing Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass covers. (you young one's start Googling Herb Alpert). I was playing regularly in nightclubs (with a parent chaperone of course) once a week. We were even flown to a 500.00 a plate Democratic Congressional Dinner in Washington D.C by George Steinbrenner. For a youngin' ...I was living large!!
Played in quite a few rock groups until 1975. I then started playing high energy dance music in bars and hotel chains for a living. That's how I hooked up with Raisin Cain and frequently toured the Eastern United States giggin'. Raisin' Cain made the switch to a special occasion band and that's where we stand today. We do an occasional bar gig here and there.
Really started songwriting in college and haven't stopped since. I have written the theme song for local cable shows and was involved in the music for a Captain Dave Production that won the American International Film and Video Award for best original music for a local children's cable show. I have won two honorable mentions over the years in the Billboard Songwriting contest along with a Honor Award in 2003 for the Great American Songwriting Contest. I am a member of NSAI and ASCAP. See my website www.mrobscuritymusic.com for other details.
I have a beautiful daughter, granddaughter and grandson who are a joy and blessing to me as is my family. Thanks for stopping by. God Bless! Jim
