About the show

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

In a celebration of the 50th anniversary of the first broadcast of the classic Rod Serling inspired cult classic, The Twilight Zone, Theater Schmeater is delighted to present The Twilight Zone: LIVE beginning July 3rd and running on Fridays and Saturdays through August 8th. Theater Schmeater will be welcoming Tim Moore, a company co-founder and Theater Schmeater’s original “Rod”, back to our stage as director, and he will also reprise his ever popular role. For this special celebration we have chosen three memorable episodes.

Nothing in the Dark first aired on January 5, 1962. An old woman living in a condemned basement apartment, balks at allowing a handsome, young, wounded police officer into her refuge. As she nurses him, he tries to calm her fears of the unknown, readying her for the greatest mystery. Written by George Clayton Johnson, this lyrical episode resonates in the heart and in the mind.

Third From the Sun first aired on January 8, 1960. In this fascinating hypothetical dissection of human nature, two desperate high ranking scientists try to steal an experimental spaceship in order to escape the planet and save their families from an impending nuclear holocaust. Written by Rod Serling and Richard Matheson, this tense Cold War fable explores the fear and paranoia of a world seemingly out of control and bent on self destruction.

The Lonely first aired on November 13, 1959. In this poignant tale of the imagination, Rod Serling envisions an inmate serving a life sentence alone on a deserted desert planet, more remote than any terrestrial island castaway. In an act intended as kindness, a supply ship captain smuggles a beautiful android as a companion to the inmate. The quality of kindness is strained when the inmate is pardoned.

The cast assembled for The Twilight Zone: LIVE is a wonderful mix of Schmee Alums and new comers to The Schmee stage: Stacey Bush, Melanie Calderwood, Heather Gautschi, Rob Jones, Larry Leggett, Chris Macdonald , Phillip Mitchell, James Weidman and Katherine Woolverton. The Twilight Zone: LIVE is directed by Tim Moore with Michael Mowery doing the Set Design, Dave Hastings doing the Lighting Design, and E. Jessica Strauss doing the Costume Design. Robertson Witmer is the Sound Designer.

The Twilight Zone: LIVE will have a preview on Thursday, July 2nd. This is an opportunity for the adventuresome theatergoer to participate in Theater Schmeater’s Theater Adventure Reward Program (TARP – unlike the Fed’s program, you don’t have to give it back!). By attending this preview of The Twilight Zone: LIVE, each audience member will receive One Dollar! This offer is limited to “first-come, first-served” at the box office (no reservations), and the box office will open at 7:00 p.m. Theater Schmeater offers this program to encourage dedicated theatergoers who thrill at the excitement and occasional danger of being in an audience for a production’s initial public performance.

The Twilight Zone: LIVE will open on Friday, July 3rd, and then run Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00pm through August 8th. There will be no performance on Saturday, July 4th. Thursday, July 9th will be the only pay-what-you-can performance. Tickets purchased in advance for all shows are $15.00 General, and $12.00 for Students and Seniors. Advance tickets are available online at www.brownpapertickets.com or by phone at 1-800-838-3006. Day of performance tickets purchased at the box office are $18.00 General, $15.00 for Students and Seniors. Theater Schmeater is located at 1500 Summit Ave., between Pike and Pine on Capitol Hill in Seattle.
