Let me ask you a question. How long can any man fight the darkness, before he finds it in himself? Driven to the brink of madness by personal tragedy, the artist known as Tombstone the Deadman's only outlet was hip hop music. While growing up in the inner city of Baltimore Maryland, he was inspired by some of the greats in the genre. He lost himself in the creative stylings of emcees such as KRS-ONE, Rakim, Main Source, Big Daddy Kane, Public Enemy, MC Ren, Slick Rick, Run DMC and others. Compelled to participate in this artform Tombstone, at first, began to emulate the emcees he most admired and then eventually evolved his own style rooted in the pain and anger that he experienced. Dark, moody, and at times controversial his songs are somewhat of an anthem for the downtrodden outcasts of society. While other emcees court the women, players, pimps, and thug element he has chosen instead to dedicate his music to others that feel like he does and thereby staying true to himself. Whether this rather offbeat form of expression is commercially successful remains to be seen but chances are that alot more people may relate to the feelings of desperation, anger, and frustration then they may care to admit. Some may find is refreshing to hear an artist that is not consumed with cars, jewerly and living ghetto fabulous. Some may find his stark portrayal of the inner workings of his mind disturbing.
