What people are saying Here are some quotes from children and parents that know me and my puppets!
Our son, Bobby, always looked forward to seeing the "puppet lady"! On the days after chemotherapy when he wasn't feeling great, the puppets could always make him smile as they came through the door for a visit. He'd smile, sit up and reached for the puppets as they came into his room to play. Bobby looked forward to the daily visit from his puppet friends in the hospital and continues to look for them when he goes for his clinic appointments. Nancy has such genuine compassion and concern as she speaks through the puppets to the children. As a mom of a sick child, I enjoyed watching her interaction with my son. I appreciate her visits and I learn a great deal from her. Thanks Nancy for all you do for the children and their parents!

I would like to let you know how much of a wonderful impact that you and your "puppets" have made on my two children. As you know too well, our Andrew spent a good part of his life in and out of the hospital. We always tried to make it a fun and exciting place to go because that was our lives. Andrew was 2 years old when he was first diagnosed with Leukemia and Jonathan was 5 years old when they first meet you at clinic. Andrew liked to see the dolls that had a "line just like his" and Jay got use to the idea as he went along. Both boys really enjoyed playing and just chatting with your puppets and unfortunately for you sometimes "getting physical" with some of them, especially the shark..boy did that shark eat!! You brought relaxation and fun to a horrible situation that these kids just knew as part of life.
The most important for all of us, was when you went into school for Jonathan and Andrew so that the other kids would know and understand what was going on at their level. You did the KIDS ON THE BLOCK Childhood Cancer Program. Andrew was very proud that he knew that the whole show was about him. It was emotional for me as a mother to watch from their eyes and the eyes of all the kids and lots of teachers. But what you dont know is that many of those kids in Jay's class and Andrew's class to this day (over three years now) still remember it and when they see me or Jay, they say "I know you, your Andrew's mom or brother and you guys were at the play about Andrew and kids with Cancer" Now that is an impressionable impact!!!

"Nancy Ambrose is a wonderful puppeteer and a very good ventriloquist. She entertains my daughter if she is at the clinic or in the hospital. Nancy has also come to my home to help my daughter with self esteem issues using the puppets. They also do medical play with the different puppets. My daughter loves Nancy and looks forward to her visits. She talks more to the puppets about what is going on with her medically than she does with anyone. The puppet play has helped her verbalize her fears and her feelings."

The puppets provided me with laughter everytime Nancy walked in the door. It made me happy knowing I had something to look forward to everyday. I always asked if she had any of them with you. One day she said "no". It was kind of dissapointing. Making them talk with a cute funny voice cheers so many children. Its amusing to them all the time. Even when they are sick. It helps them get there mind off why they are in the hospital. I know it made me forget. It made me comfortable being there. I remember sleeping with one because you let me cause I just had surgery. I made it talk and I wouldn't let nobody take it away. Puppets are a great thing even when you are NO matter what age. Cause I know it made me smile!!

I just wanted to comment how helpful it was when the puppets came to life. The kids are stuck in a hospital room, getting treatments that make them sick, and then this puppet comes into the room and makes them smile. The one time that really comes to mind, was right after Kate's first surgery. She was very down, and angry. She was on pain med that made her "someone else's daughter" and you brought in a big bird. You let it lay in bed with Kate and she made friends with it. She made it talk - in such a happy voice. We new that our "real daughter" was still there somewhere. She made us laugh soooo hard when she made the bird talk to her. So, you not only make the children happy but also the parents.

We enjoyed the puppets a great deal. Lindsay looked forward to the "puppet lady" coming to see her in the hospital or clinic.

I love Nancy's puppets. I like Ellie a lot. I get to play games like bubblegum with her. I also like to do medical play with the girl puppets like Kenzie and Jenny. I like to play doctor on them. I have to go to the doctor a lot so it feels good when I can be a doctor.

Life

As September starts, I'm amazed at how trusting I've been in my life and how often I am stabbed in the back. I think this is the last time. No more trusting people. It's a sad life when people that ac...
