The Red Verse

About Me

The Red Verse (previously The Reverse) combine old country influences with a modern pop aesthetic. Former members of Beulah (Danny Sullivan) and Every Move A Picture (Allen Davis) join forces with emerging new songwriter/frontman Alex Oneil and Andrew Galluccio to form the new Bay Area four piece The Red Verse. 'Like watching The Edge play guitar for Jonathon Richman' , The Red Verse successfully blend the old sun records sound with fresh new wave post punk guitar.

"The band’s style moves back and forth from a Strokes-influenced prep-rock to 50s-60s Rock and Roll and country, with throwbacks to Elvis and Johnny Cash"
- Emily Logan, The Bay Bridged.
"SF's The Red Verse manage a smart cross of The Walkmen and the careening swing of the Tennessee Three, with a whiplash rhythm section and wild melodies that cross Jerry Lee Lewis with Julian Casablancas. Putting their love of 50's rock through the same echo chamber as Jy Division and Interpol, The Red Verse bring the wild 50's back into the sound of your radio-- keep an ear out."
-Tyler McCauley, for Noise Pop
"Like Jarvis from Pulp goes death rock"
-Aaron Axelson, Live 105 Soundcheck
"The Red Verse are the Tarantino’s of the music world... Their style pays homage to many classic bands such as the Strokes, Johnny Cash, and 60s Brit-pop but never evokes the desire to call the band copy cats. Just like how Quentin Tarantino borrows heavily from classic noir and samurai films but is still called a visual genius. Yes, they borrow ideas and styles from the best however they still offer some of their own flash to make it less of a direct copy and more of an original work. The Red Verse has excelled at this on their debut EP No Chance for Romance."
