About Me

Well, let's see...I'm a 2007 JCD grad who's currently doing a whole lot of nothing. I'm looking for a part-time job, though.I'm a big hobbyist, what with all the jewelry-making and crocheting and sculpting and things of that nature...Even though I don't have the funds for it, I love fashion. I loooove makeup. If you like makeup, and if you like it unique and bright, LiME CRiME might be right up your alley.Oh, and did I mention my extensive library of video games? Oh, yes, the video games that I own would dazzle and enchant any gamer. For, when I was a child of seven years, I played games like Uninvited for hours on end. Yes. But my favorite game of childhood was probably Wizards and Warriors. I was never able to finish it...until I found it last year and beat it in an hour. Ah, how times change...Oh, yes, I forgot to say what big of a Zelda nerd I am. Oh my. I can't even describe it. In short, my favorite video game ever is Majora's Mask.I used to be addicted to making sites, sometimes for people who don't really even want one. Give me a reason to make you one, and I'd be happy to oblige. I haven't made one in forever and I just need some inspiration ^_^!

My Interests

I play flute and guitar. I love both playing and listening to music, but more on that later.I love learning languages...I can't keep the little mind-voice in my head from speaking (and dreaming) in Spanish! I'm becoming proficient in katakana...still working on hiragana, though!I'm also quite interested in the strange world of dreams. I can remember mine quite easily, and sometimes I recall three or four a night. My dad is also very interested in it; he was the one who taught me when I was little to always try to remember my dreams.

I'd like to meet:

People of like minds and people at the opposite end of the spectrum. Bob Dylan.

Music:

I tried to pare down the list above to just the musicians I listen to (relatively) regularly. It could be a mile long, but I restrained myself.AFI, Dir en Grey, The Cure, The Mars Volta, Pavement, Rush, The Smiths, Children of Bodom, Janis Joplin, Placebo, Depeche Mode, Led Zeppelin, Steve Vai, The Doors, Rufus Wainwright, Daft Punk, Joy Division, New Order, Air, Nirvana, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Smashing Pumpkins, Opeth, Pink Floyd, Queen, Blaqk Audio, Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks, Morrissey, Son of Sam, Monaco, Billy Corgan, Preston School of Industry

Movies:

Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, Kill Bill Vol. 1 and 2, Death Proof, Edward Scissorhands, Brokeback Mountain, Party Monster, A Clockwork Orange, What's Eating Gilbert Grape?, Paris Is Burning, Mallrats, Dogma, Spirited Away, Kiki's Delivery Service, Princess Mononoke, Castle In The Sky, Howl's Moving Castle (big Miyazaki fan!), Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, The Station Agent, Napoleon Dynamite, Planet Terror, Akira, A Christmas Story, Big Fish, Blow, Trainspotting, Die Mommie Die!, Querelle, El Mariachi.Favorite actors for their skill: Johnny Depp, Uma Thurman, Samuel L. Jackson, Ewan McGregor, Seth Green (loved him in Party Monster), Michael Madsen,Robert Forster (fantastic in Jackie Brown!), Peter Dinklage (he gave a great nuanced performance in The Station Agent).Favorite actors to watch because they're easy on the eyes: Jake Gyllenhaal, Corey Haim (late 80s), Jude Law, Johnny Depp, Jared Leto, Ewan McGregor. My favorite director is Quentin Tarantino, with Miyazaki coming in second.IFC is pretty great.

Television:

Survivorman is my favorite show, ever. That 70s Show, X-Play, King of the Hill, The Simpsons, Farscape (RIP), Stargate SG-1, South Park, Project Runway, What Not To Wear, America's Next Top Model, Dirty Jobs (Isn't Mike Rowe a hoot? And his eyes are so pretty!), How It's Made, House, Grey's Anatomy, Twin Peaks.

Books:

My favorite author is H.P. Lovecraft. My favorite of his stories is "The Colour out of Space". Although HPL doesn't think it's very good himself, I loved "The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath"! That story shows that although he can sometimes tend to be amateurish, Lovecraft's imagination is staggering. If you've never read any of his work, please do! I know you'll enjoy it.My favorite book is Impossible Vacation by Spalding Gray.Earth's Children series, Harry Potter series, His Dark Materials series, A Million Little Pieces by James Frey (even if it's fabricated, he has a unique writing style), Night by Elie Wiesel, 1984 by George Orwell, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas by Hunter S. Thompson, The Pleasure of My Company and Pure Drivel by Steve Martin, A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess, Boonville by Robert Mailer Anderson, Bushido: The Soul of Japan by Inazo Nitobe, A Return To Spirit by Josie RavenWing, The Teachings of Don Juan by Carlos Castaneda, The Kin of Ata Are Waiting For You by Dorothy Bryant. As for magazines...Guitar World, Rolling Stone, Nintendo Power, Entertainment, Interview, Newsweek, random magazines lying around the house.

Les Stroud, H.P. Lovecraft, Bob Dylan, Stephen Malkmus, Alexi Laiho, Hayao Miyazaki, Jon Stewart, Omar Rodriguez Lopez, Quentin Tarantino, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Steve Vai, Stevie McConnell!

Memories tend to distort

I haven’t ever posted a song as a blog, but I read the first three lines of this song and thought it was appropriate.  Plus, I’m going to see them this Sunday, and I’m really ha...

Playing nice is usually easy for me, but...

So, if I'm nice enough to lend you something, please treat it with the same respect that I would show your stuff.  I'm usually very eager to share things with others that I think they would like,...

Hollywood...It’s a dirty town, but someone has to do it!

I bought a couple movies from Goodwill last Saturday, one of them being Die Mommie Die!, and I watched it today.  For most of the film, I sat there with a big grin on my face (not realizing it un...

I love radio theater.

So last night the power went out.  Laura and I played Connect Four by candlelight.  After a while, we all lay (lied?  laid?) down and I plugged up some speakers to my mp3 player.  ...

Rake that muck!

I found a paperback copy of Fast Food Nation at Goodwill last night.  I haven't read all that much of it yet, but the description of working conditions at slaughterhouses really bothered me. ...

Flute!!

I got my new flute today.  It's solid silver and has a gold-plated lip plate.  It has open holes (which I have to adjust to), a B foot, and it sounds absolutely heavenly.  I was so happ...

You’re an ocean of honey, painfully funny.

I've been listening to audio readings of Lovecraft from Voices in the Dark lately...if you get bored, you should try listening to some of it late at night.  If only they had "The Colour Out Of Sp...

I’m writing this to say, in a gentle way, thank you but no.

I've really appreciated getting to hang out with everyone these past few weeks.  I haven't seen many of my friends since they were in high school, and getting together felt like we were all back ...

Vinyl meets mp3 at last!

So, I found a long-lost cord that allows me to hook up anything with the red-and-white audio jacks to the computer.  I've gone crazy converting my LPs to mp3.  This really, really opens up t...
