A late starter, I bought my first set of turntables at the age of 17 in October of '99, an event that was sparked long before when my older brother Brian played the Danny the Wildchild tape from the first Jungle Book for me in the summer of '96. I entered the scene as the focus of turntablism and battling was making a shift from physical body tricks to an emphasis on the sound itself. As I was learning everything I could about scratching, beat juggling, and trick mixing, the Invizibl Skratch Piklz were pushing the boundaries of turntablism and breaking norms by revealing how a wide range of tricks were done. At a time when creativity and technical progression were being nurtured by the wide-spread availability of technical fundamentals, I developed my abilities and, through influences from the rich pool of underground hip hop records and other talented DJs, my own style finally began to materialize and take shape.
